NASCAR Modifieds, Local Divisions Ready to Restore the Thompson Roar
Waterbury, VT and Naples, ME — The high banks of Connecticut’s historic Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park will roar once again this Wednesday, September 2. The Thompson 150 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will be the 81st season opener at North America’s original asphalt speedway as it finally gets the 2020 season underway.
The biggest names in Modified racing will converge on the 5/8-mile track for the Tour’s 147th visit to Thompson, including point leader Justin Bonsignore, six-time Champion Doug Coby, and former track champion Woody Pitkat. Add in a full card of racing for the track’s fives local divisions, and it will be an action-packed midweek night after months of anticipation.
Kevin Harvick triumphs in ‘Drydene 311’ NASCAR Cup Series race
DOVER, Del. (Aug. 23, 2020) – Two of America’s best drivers lined up side by side with 17 miles to go to the finish.
At the green flag, the leader was an 11-time track winner and a seven-time national champion, making perhaps his final appearance behind the wheel at a place that has already labeled him ‘The Master.’ And he was the underdog.
Kevin Harvick showed why he was the favorite in that duel by passing Jimmie Johnson one lap into a restart before pulling away to win the “Drydene 311” NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway on Sunday, concluding the “Drydene Doubleheader Weekend” and 1,347 total miles of racing across three days and six events.

LOUDON, N.H. – Brad Keselowski battled Mother Nature, fuel mileage and Denny Hamlin, but came out victorious against all three at the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday.
New England’s first major sporting event with fans since the start of the pandemic was briefly paused by a rain shower early in the second stage, but the delay didn’t deter excited race fans – and Keselowski didn’t disappoint, leading a race-high 184 laps and holding off Hamlin for the win.
“We’ve had a lot of great races this year with the No. 2 car and we just haven’t really gone out and dominated a race, you know?” Keselowski said. “I was talking to (crew chief) Jeremy Bullins and said that’s what we really need to get to that next level. We’re right there. We just need to go out there and dominate a race; that’s what today was for us.”

We need to go out and just dominate a race,’ and that’s what today was for us with the Western Star/Alliance Parts Ford Mustang. I’m really proud of my team and the effort that they gave today.
