Championship Night Moved as Part of Schedule Shuffle
Barre, VT – Thunder Road and American-Canadian Tour (ACT) officials have announced that the 41st Coca-Cola Labor Day Classic has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 14 at 5:00pm. The event had been postponed this past Sunday following an on-track accident that occurred during qualifying.
As part of the rescheduling, Thunder Road’s Barre Granite Association Championship Night has been moved to Sunday, September 22 at 1:30pm. All Thunder Road track champions will be crowned at that event as previously planned.
Will Hull Powers to Victory at Devils Bowl Speedway
The Green Mountain Gear-Heads Sprint Cars of New England made their final appearance of the season at The Devils Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT as part of the gigantic Interstate Batteries Vermont 200 Weekend. Fourteen cars were in attendance but only eleven made the call for the 25 lap Feature as a couple suffered mechanical failures and Dan Douville, who ran to Victory the night before at Bear Ridge Speedway, executed a wild flip in his heat race. Although Douville was transported to the local hospital with a neck injury he is expected to make a full recovery.

Kevin Chaffe wins #4 in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, Melvin Pierson win#2 in the DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, Ryan Christian scores #7 win the C.A. Miller Limited Late Models, and Jason Porter #5 in the Peanuts Auto Four Cylinders.
It’s not over till it’s over and in the DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds Matt Lashua looked like he was going to be able to hold on for his third win, but Kevin Chaffee was having nothing of it. Working his way from the back of the pack Chaffee was able to make his move on Lashua late in the race taking over the point. When the checkers waved Lashua was able to hang on for second with Jordan Fornwalt crossing the line in third right on his heals. Tanner Siemons and Steve Flint with a great performance completed the top five.
Barre, VT – Bennington, NH’s Matt Kimball made a statement in the North East Mini Stock Tour (NEMST) championship chase on Saturday, August 31 by taking the win at Barre’s Thunder Road as part of Coca-Cola Four Cylinder Saturday. Kimball, the NEMST point leader, put a crossover move on E. Thetford’s Brandon Gray following a lap-31 restart and cruised from there to the victory in the 50-lap main event.
Labor Day Classic Program Postponed After Accident
Barre, VT – The 41st Labor Day Classic at Barre’s Thunder Road has been postponed due to an on-track accident that occurred during qualifying. An announcement regarding the completion of the program will be made later this week.
Thunder Road Getting Ready for Huge Labor Day Weekend
Barre, VT – Barre’s Thunder Road will be the stage for two big days of holiday racing this Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1. The final Thursday event may have been run, but there is plenty of action left to be had at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement” before the curtains are drawn on 2019.
