Locals Prepared to Defend Governor’s Cup Against NASCAR’s Bell
Barre, VT – Barre’s Thunder Road is just days away from roaring to the grid with the the 40th VP Racing Fuels Vermont Governor’s Cup 150. The big story leading up to the Thursday, July 18 event has been the scheduled appearance of NASCAR and dirt racing standout Christopher Bell. However, the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Model heroes are more than ready to give their all and keep the trophy in Vermont.
Floyd Billington Dominates at Devils Bowl Speedway
The Green Mountain Gear-Heads Sprint Cars of New England rolled into the Devils Bowl Speedway for the third time this season on Browns Slate & Quarries night July 14th to find a nice racing surface with some grip.
JTB Towing & Recovery Night wins go to Matt Lashua in the Sportsman Modifieds, Seth Carlson in the USAC Dirt Midgets and Josh Harrington in the Sportsman Coupes
JTB Towing & Recovery night at Bear Ridge Speedway was entertaining as double points were on the line for the Mid-Season Championship event that concluded with another spectacular Fireworks show. Also on the card were the Granite State Mini-Sprints for the annual Len West Memorial. The evening kicked off with a makeup Feature for the Peanuts Auto 4-Cylinder division with Buddy Welch in victory lane. Matt Lashua took win number two on the season in the Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds with the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes seeing Josh Harrington roll to the win continuing the no repeat winners theme. Seth Carlson was a dominant winner in the USAC Dirt Midgets and Ryan Christian won again in the C.A. Miller Limited Late Models. The regular Peanuts Auto 4-Cylinder event saw Kevin LaForest take the win. Riley Chaffee won the GraniteState Mini-Sprint 500cc Main with Drew Eldridge best in the 600’s.
Cornell Goes Back-to-Back on Passumpsic Bank Night
Barre, VT – East Burke’s Colin Cornell made Thunder Road’s Victory Lane his home for the second straight week by taking round two of the Myers Container Services Triple Crown Series at Passumpsic Bank Night on Friday, July 12. The 17-year-old Cornell held off a last-lap charge from two-time Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger Champion Jason Woodard of Waterbury Center to go back-to-back just six days after picking up his first Thunder Road win.
Tigers Going Long Distance Again at Passumpsic Bank Night
Barre, VT – The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers are back in the Thunder Road spotlight this Thursday, July 11 at Passumpsic Bank Night. The pressure will be on in the second round of the Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series as the division’s best vie for bragging rights in the added-distance, added-purse event.

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Kenny Tremont Jr. did it again. The West Sand Lake, N.Y., driver made it four consecutive victories at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, July 7, taking the Rutland Regional Medical Center “Hometown Heores” event in a wild 30-lap run. His win topped a card that included visits to Victory Lane by Adam Piper, Josh Bussino, P.J. Bleau, and Samantha Mulready.
