PASSJoey Polewarczyk nails down third PASS North victory in Make A Wish 150 at Star Speedway

Epping, New Hampshire – Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, New Hampshire earned his third Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model victory of the season Friday night in the twice-postponed Make A Wish 150 at Star Speedway in Epping, New Hampshire.

Probably better known near and far as ‘Joey Pole Junior,’ Polewarczyk started the race in 13th position, methodically working his way through the field to take the lead away from Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine in the JBJ Machine 73. Doiron had led most of the 150-lap race after taking the lead away from early leader Todd Stone of Middlebury, Vermont at the event’s quarter pole.

A late-race restart erased a healthy lead held by Doiron, then Polewarczyk took command. In the closing laps Travis Benjamin of Morrill, Maine made a late charge that came up just about a car-length short aboard the 99 Restaurants car. Doiron crossed the line in third position.

Four-time PASS North Super Late Model champion Ben Rowe of Turner, Maine was the fourth-place finisher after starting 14th on the grid. Tracy Gordon of Strong, Maine raced with the contenders throughout the 150-lapper and claimed the last top-five slot in the rundown.

2014 PASS North Champion DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire drove his Precision JLM 60 to a sixth-place finish, padding his lead in the championship standings headed into the series finale coming up Saturday afternoon (October 16) at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway.

Reigning Series champion Mike Rowe of Turner, Maine was the seventh-place finisher, with fellow Turner resident Glen Luce eighth. Dave Farrington, Jr. of Jay, Maine and Curtis Gerry of Waterboro, Maine rounded out the top ten.

Heat race victories were earned by Stone, in the G. Stone Motors 1x, and Joe Squeglia, Jr., of Derry, New Hampshire in his Automart 03.

Polewarczyk’s victory was made possible by the twice-rescheduled, rare Friday night race date at Star Speedway. Due to a previous racing commitment, the Pole’s Automotive team was not present at the two earlier attempts to run this event.

Up next for the Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Models is Championship Day, set for Saturday afternoon, October 15, at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. Post time is 2:00 p.m. for the final PASS North Super Late Model race of the season. Joining the Super Late Models will be PASS Mods, a Street Stock open, plus Legends Cars. Tickets are now on sale for the annual Pro All Stars Series awards banquet, scheduled for Friday night, November 18 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn, Maine.
