NESS and Late Models Kick Off Thursday Night Racing at Thunder Road

Thursday Night Racing at Thunder Road kicks off with McGee CDJR of Barre Super Thursday, featuring the New England Supermodified Series (NESS).

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Super Thursday visit for the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) after the winged supermodified tour got its start at Thunder Road back in 2022. Since then, eventual champions Rob Summers and Dan Bowes have both taken the checkers along with two-time winner Jon McKennedy, Matt Swanson and Ben Seitz. Currently Bowes leads defending series champion Jeffrey Battle by just one point and will look to solidify that lead with his fourth Super win at Thunder Road.

Finally the Maplefields/Irving Late Models will get their 2026 King of the Road track championship season up and running on McGee CDJR of Barre night. Barre’s Jason Corliss (66VT) will be in the hunt for an unprecedented fifth Late Model championship at Thunder Road while he’s set to face plenty of opposition for the crown. It’s once again a question of whether the veterans like Corliss, Scott Dragon, Chris Pelkey and Marcel Gravel can hold off the young lions of Brandon Gray, Kaiden Fisher, Justin Prescott and Jesse Laquerre among the field. With 65 laps to start the season, it’ll be anyone’s guess who might stand tall to take the opening Thursday win.

Randy Ryan Wins, Christopher Pierce Claims First Career Modified Victory at Devil’s Bowl

It was Kids’ Poster Night at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday evening, and the youngsters in attendance were treated to an exciting card of dirt track action. A pair of drivers earned their second wins of the season, and two others visited victory lane for the first time in their careers.

In the 30-lap Sunoco Sportsman Modified feature, veteran wheelman Randy Ryan cruised to a seemingly easy win. It was an emotional bounce-back win for Ryan, who saw one of his cars destroyed in a turn-one rollover in his last start. The outcome of this one was never in doubt as Ryan pounced to the lead from the pole at the drop of the green flag and led every lap. Brent Warren, who was lightning fast in his heat race, quickly moved from his fourth spot on the grid to second by passing Marty Hutchins and Eric Shaw, but Ryan had already checked out. Ryan crossed the finish line half a track in front of the rest of the pack. Warren held on for second, Vince Quenneville was third, Josh Sunn fourth, and Tanner Siemons, who moved up 10 spots from his 15th starting position, was fifth.

Andy Kaherl Scores First Career Super Street Win at Wiscasset Speedway

What was slated to be a cold and dreary Saturday afternoon in Coastal Maine turned out to be a beautiful one, allowing for a full Group 1 program to go off without a hitch at Wiscasset Speedway.

The night’s racing action, presented by Mainely Karting, kicked off with a 25-lap exhibition race for LST Motorsports Park’s Sr. and Master Champ Karts. Both divisions raced simultaneously at once, with Jon McConologue sneaking into the early lead. Andrew Rogers was quickly making his way through the field, climbing to second in the opening laps of the race. Veteran Mike Ramsey followed his lead, joining the top 3 shortly after. Andrew Rogers fell back to fourth while battling lap traffic and Jon McConologue also fell victim as Parker Doucette and Mike Ramsey made their way to the top of the leaderboard. Mike Ramsey made a bold crossover move as the laps wound down, catapulting to the lead. Parker Doucette was all over him on the final lap, merely edging him out at the line for the overall victory. Jon McConologue followed, completing the top 3.

New London-Waterford Speedbowl Results: Late Models, SK Lights, and More

Disaster in the front of the field on lap 1 of the Late Models sidelined Aaron Plemons and Shawn Gaedeke immediately. This left Jordan Hadley and Ray Christian at the point, but only for another lap when contact between the two send both to the rear. Diego Monahan and Jason Palmer now took point with Monahan working hard to keep Palmer at bay. They stayed side-by-side for much of the race as Christian rallied forward and a visiting Jeff Belyea waited patiently behind. That patience wore off just after halfway when Christian dove underneath the low groove running Palmer, and picked off the high groove running Monahan shortly after. He ran off to safely win race number two of the season.

After a couple rough and tumble SK Light races, the drivers put on a green to checker affair. Sami Anderson started off strong after some bad luck races pulling away from Evan Bourgeois and Kevin Cormier. Her large lead was slowly getting whittled away as the laps clicked down with Bourgeois and Cormier running nose to tail. Lapped traffic came into play in the closing stages but Anderson was able to both maneuver that and hold off Bourgeois to pick up the win.
