The Farmyard Store Flying Tigers are back on top this Saturday at White Mountain Motorsports Park for the second annual Tiger $2K. With $2,000 going to the winner at the end of 100 laps, it’s sure to be a battle to the very end!
In three events so far, The Farmyard Store Flying Tigers have been the division to watch at White Mountain. Chandler Potter barnstormed to the HK Powersports 75 win on opening day, Nate Hamblett battled kidney stones and the field to take the first 35-lapper of the season the next week and young Luke Peters fought off fellow youngster Austin Sicard for last week’s win.
With $2,000 on the line in this week’s 100 lap main event, it remains to be seen if veterans like Shane Sicard, Mike Clark or John Donahue can pick up the check versus the youngsters like point leader Kyle Willis, Cameron Ouellette and Owen Cheney, to name a few!
Disaster in the front of the field on lap 1 of the Late Models sidelined Aaron Plemons and Shawn Gaedeke immediately. This left Jordan Hadley and Ray Christian at the point, but only for another lap when contact between the two send both to the rear. Diego Monahan and Jason Palmer now took point with Monahan working hard to keep Palmer at bay. They stayed side-by-side for much of the race as Christian rallied forward and a visiting Jeff Belyea waited patiently behind. That patience wore off just after halfway when Christian dove underneath the low groove running Palmer, and picked off the high groove running Monahan shortly after. He ran off to safely win race number two of the season.
After a couple rough and tumble SK Light races, the drivers put on a green to checker affair. Sami Anderson started off strong after some bad luck races pulling away from Evan Bourgeois and Kevin Cormier. Her large lead was slowly getting whittled away as the laps clicked down with Bourgeois and Cormier running nose to tail. Lapped traffic came into play in the closing stages but Anderson was able to both maneuver that and hold off Bourgeois to pick up the win.
The 59th season of racing is getting off to a rough start at the Ridge with opening day festivities canceled for bad weather. A wet spring was capped with persistent showers scheduled for all day on May 2nd, forcing promoter C.V. Elms to make the decision to pull the plug.
The wet weather did settle in the area, and despite a few breaks did not move out until Sunday. It is always a tough decision for Elms who prides himself on doing everything possible to put on the show for the competitors and the fans. This decision proved a wise one, and now the Elms will set their sights on May 9th as opening night of their 59th consecutive season of racing.
Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour heat winners Kaiden Fisher and Gabe Brown earned the front row of the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 by each earning a +5 in qualifying action. After suffering with ignition issues all of Friday practice, Fisher made his presence known by leading the early circuits before Jimmy Renfrew Jr. got around him on the lap 7 restart. Renfrew kept pace ahead of the pack while the 32-car field spread out, easing the pressure on their Hoosier Racing Tires against the rough, aged surface of Lee USA Speedway.
A rough outing for rookie Holdyn Sullivan took a turn for the worse, spinning off of turn two and hard into the outside wall. Back under green, former Quebec champion Jonathan Bouvrette made a strong run to the front along with Gabe Brown as Brown took over the lead. With 50 laps remaining, Bouvrette continued to gain on lap times but lap traffic worked in Brown’s favor.
