After an outstanding start to the Thursday Night racing season, Thunder Road International Speedbowl is back in action this Thursday, June 11 with the help of Casella Waste Systems! An action-packed Thursday will feature the Maplefields/Irving Oil Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks plus the annual appearance of the New England Auto Racers to pull back the curtain on yesteryear at one of New England’s oldest racing facilities!
The New England Auto Racers (NEAR) bring nostalgia wherever they race from the open-wheeled coupes and modifieds of fifty years ago to the traveling Hall of Fame mobile-museum. The Thursday at Thunder Road and Saturday at White Mountain Motorsports Park doubleheader has annually kicked off their racing season, with stops also planned at Seekonk Speedway, Bear Ridge Speedway and Waterford Speedbowl among others.
New Hampshire’s Center of Speed will roar with the Mighty Modifieds of the Modified Racing Series in the Seacoast 75 on Friday, June 12.
The Seacoast 75 will be the 45th event for MRS at Lee USA Speedway and stands to kick-off their championship season.
Defending champion Brett Meservey leads the Modified Racing Series into Lee USA Speedway for this Friday’s Seacoast 75 but will face plenty of competition at the 3/8-mile. A pair of former New Hampshire NASCAR State Champions in Nate Wenzel and Tyler Leary will make the trip along with last Saturday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour winner Jon McKennedy.
A pair of driver swaps will see longtime Super Late Model standout Joey Doiron will be behind the wheel of the KDW #66 and Brian Robie will pilot the Bobby Webber Racing #19. Stew McCormack is bringing his beautifully prepared #04NH while Ryan Doucette, Matt Lashua, Adam LaPoint, Jeremy Zullo, TJ Bleau, Kurt Vigeant and veteran Joey Jarvis are also on the early entry list.
The SK Modifieds(R) have only gotten two races completed with weather and scheduling being a factor this season. Knowing that and seeing Nickolas Hovey rocket off to a huge lead to start the feature event it was only a matter of time in 2026. It seemed like a cake walk as he pulled away from Joey Ternullo and Keith Rocco. Ternullo would fade as Todd Owen and Anthony Flannery charged through the field. Just ten laps in, Flannery moved into second but he still had quite a way to go. The race got way more competitive at the expense of Paul Buzel and Adam Gada going up and nearly over the turn 4 wall. Hovey and Flannery at the front row put on a multi-lap drag race that evolved into a cross-over battle. The result was a photo finish with Hovey picking up his first division win by a nose over Flannery, with Timmy Jordan hot on their tails.
Mother Nature attempted to impose her will on the racing card on Saturday night, but the management, staff, drivers and fans at Devil’s Bowl Speedway refused to lose. After a brief storm rolled through West Haven right before intermission, the track crew’s determined effort, followed by the modified driver’s help working the racing surface in, allowed the kids’ race car rides and the remainder of the Inspired Minds Childcare night’s events to be completed. With the track’s characteristics vastly different after the rain shower concluded, drivers were challenged to adjust, making for an entertaining show.
In the 30-lap Sunoco Sportsman Modified feature, Scott Towslee, usually known as a “High Plains Drifter,” suddenly became a “Bottom Feeder,” as he hugged the inside line for a convincing victory, ending a two-year drought. Adam Piper set the early pace, but a mechanical issue ended his night on lap eight. Towslee took control on the ensuing restart and never gave it back. Last week’s winner, Randy Ryan, appeared to be primed to contend for another win, but he also suffered a mechanical issue. Frank Hoard III charged from ninth on the grid to take over the second spot and challenge Towslee. After failing to be able to overtake the leader on a trio of restarts, Hoard III fashioned a last-ditch effort to steal the top spot from Towslee out of turn four, coming to the white flag, and clipped the outside retaining wall, sending him back to ninth. Towslee held on to collect the victory, followed by Brent Warren, A.J. Munger, Joey Scarborough, and Josh Sunn. Scarborough earned the Elmo’s Pit Stop Hard Charger Award after advancing from the 14th starting position to fourth.

Once again, Wiscasset Speedway proved the doubters wrong and beat the weather on Saturday evening, hosting a successful Group 2 program that was presented by the Maine ARMY National Guard.
The racing action kicked off with the 35-lap Pepsi Spotlight feature for the Portland Glass Strictly Streets. Ethan Dinsmore took off with the early lead, but it was utter chaos behind him with 2 and 3-wide battles throughout the entire field. After leading the entire race, Dinsmore came to a sudden slow on the track due to a transmission failure on lap 14, resulting in a premature exit.
Dale Lawrence powered to the lead on the restart and maintained command throughout multiple cautions that followed. “Cowboy” Dan Trask entered the picture just past halfway, climbing to second after starting back in 17th. A late-race caution brought the field back together with just 8 laps to go. This brought opportunity to Trask, who powered to the lead with just 5 laps remaining. As Trask sailed into the victory, Landon Tapley and Chris Burgess (who gained 20 positions) followed in succession, completing the top 3. After scoring his first victory in 7 years, an emotional Trask climbed out of the car and was joined by family & friends. He dedicated his win to his late friend and Wiscasset Speedway Hall of Famer Mike Kimball, who is dearly missed and remembered by many.
