Kaiden Fisher Wins Spring Green 126 at Seekonk Speedway

IMG_6266.jpeg

Two young lions of the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour, Jacob Burns and Kaiden Fisher, showed their stuff at Seekonk Speedway during the 51st Spring Green 126 on Saturday.

Championship hopeful Kaiden Fisher, Seekonk Speedway regular Ryan Flood, and leading rookie Jacob Burns each took heat race wins to set the field.

Surprise entry Tanner Woodard earned the pole position with a +3 while Blainville, Quebec’s Jonathan Bouvrette started alongside. Using the outside groove, Bouvrette led the early circuits before Jacob Burns took over on lap 18. Burns, a former track champion of Seekonk Speedway, began to extend his lead as Kaiden Fisher and Gabe Brown began to enter the picture.

What started out great turned sour for Bouvrette who started to backslide with a right-rear tire going down. It finally gave out completely, sending him spinning in turn one to call out the lone caution of the event. On the restart Burns once again launched off with the lead and drove away, fighting with lap traffic before too long and, unknowingly, setting up his own demise.

Trystin Bodwell launched off with the lead in the Ridge Runner feature showdown as calamity struck in the back half of the field to collect Carl Gagnon and Brad Weismann on lap one. Back under green it was not-so-brotherly love for Josh Hodgdon and Tyler Fish with the two brothers going fisticuffs on track resulting in a blown right front for Hodgdon. Meanwhile up front, Bodwell showed the way as Kam Weir and opening Friday winner Kyle Dumas made their way under a loose Fish. Time ran out for Weir with Trystin Bodwell taking the 20-lap feature and Dumas rounding out the top three.

Donnie Belisle and Jason Curtis brought the Tri-City Lining Street Stocks to bare for their 25-lap main event. Curtis led the field as Mike Williams and Oxford Plains invader Joey Israelson joined the mix for a tough top-three fight. One caution at the halfway point for a stalled Blaine Porman re-racked the field for a last ditch effort at the crown. Jason Curtis kept up what he was doing best to steal the win while Joey Israelson slid in under Mike Williams to steal second at the line.
