KIMBALL, BUFFONE, CAM CURTIS WIN MAY 15 AT MONADNOCK
By Gary DuttonWINCHESTER, N.H. – Matt Kimball stormed to victory in the 40-lap NHSTRA Modified feature Saturday, May 15, at Monadnock Speedway. It was the young Bennington, N.H. star’s second win of 2021, both scored just ahead of veteran shoe Todd Patnode.
Saturday was also a night on which both Chris Buffone and Gordon Farnum earned his second victory lap of the young season, and a 15-year-old stepped up as perhaps the quarter-mile speedplant’s hottest driver of the 2021 campaign. Cam Curtis, the young hot shoe from bucolic Baltimore, VT, crushed all competition in the Late Model Sportsman feature for the second week in a row, moving to the top of his division’s point standings with Saturday’s romp.
Shaw Claims First ACT Victory in Series Return to Lee USA Speedway
American Canadian Tour
Lee, NH — Center Conway, NH’s D.J. Shaw took home his first career American-Canadian Tour (ACT) victory on Sunday, May 16 following a hard-fought Lee USA 150 at New Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway. The multi-time Pro All Stars Series (PASS) champion held off New Sharon, ME’s “Thrillin’” Dillon Moltz for the runner-up spot on the track before being named the winner a little more than an hour later.
Shaw inherited the win after Wayne Helliwell Jr. was disqualified in post-race technical inspection for a chassis infraction. It bookended a day where reigning ACT champion Jimmy Hebert crashed hard in the final ACT practice session and was unable to even take the green flag as a result.
“We are thrilled to welcome race fans to ‘The Magic Mile’ to enjoy the many racing events we’ve got lined up throughout the season,” said David McGrath, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “The past year has given us the opportunity to host a variety of events that are outside of our typical wheelhouse, but we’re excited to get back to our motorsports and fan entertainment roots.”
Drivers, Start Your Engines! Laps for Charity returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway May 14 to benefit the New Hampshire Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. Fans can drive on the 1.6-mile road course for the very first time.

Laps for Charity offers anyone with a need for speed the opportunity to drive his or her own vehicle on one of New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s (NHMS) famed racing surfaces as well as ride in the official NHMS pace car with proceeds benefitting the New Hampshire Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities (SCCNH).
“Race fans are always asking us if they can drive on the racetrack,” said Danielle Cyr, director for SCCNH and marketing manager for NHMS. “This is the perfect opportunity to give them the chance to experience the thrill of being behind the wheel at their favorite speedway while helping local kids in need.”
GRANITE STATE PRO STOCK SERIES RETURNS TO STAR SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY

WALPOLE, N.H. — Granite State Pro Stock Series race teams are heading to Star Speedway in Epping, New Hampshire, for the third race of the season on Saturday, May 8. Coming off successful events at Stafford Motor Speedway and Monadnock Speedway — won by Joey Pole and Angelo Belsito — the series hits the New Hampshire oval for the Hedges Excavating 100 for the first of two visits in 2021. The second visit will come on Friday, September 17, as part of the annual Star Classic.
If the finish to the Star Classic 100 last year is any indication, the Pro Stock battle should be one to remember. Former series champions Pole and Derek Griffith battled side-by-side for the final 10 laps in the race last September, and Pole is heading back to Star looking to make it two-for-two. Pole didn’t compete at Monadnock, but picked up the win at Stafford on April 24.
