Jon Moore Takes The High Road At Whip City Speedway

BY MARK McKEON

WESTFIELD, MA – Former champ Jon Moore solidified his points lead with his second win of the season in the marquee 1200cc class. “We had a pretty good race,” Moore said. “It seemed like I was racing with Jerry Sehn all night. I got underneath him in the heat and got by him. He wasn’t about to let that happen again in the feature, so I had to make a run for the high side going down the backstretch and I got by him coming off turn four. I think he was having a good time; I know I was.”
Seth Carlson extended his points lead over Kurt Conklin with another 270cc feature win. Kendall Segar, who later debuted in a 750 Sportsman, was second and Conklin came home third.
Former track champ Jay Coppo won the heat and then picked up his first 600cc victory of the year on double points night. Luke Greenwood, who also competes with the Granite State Mini Sprints, was second and points leader Ricci Hirth finished third.
Phil Bessette won both the heat and the feature to grab the lead in the highly competitive 750cc points battle. Tyler Jackson and John Casazza were second and third in the feature, which is also their points standing.
Kyle Smith and Makayla Lucia swapped their 750 Sportsman finishing position from last week. It was win number five for Smith.
Skip Matczak’s Seals-It sponsored team led the Quad 4 Midgets. Joe Krawiec took the honors followed by former Indy 500 Rookie of the Year Denny Zimmerman.
Brett Crowther is batting .666 in the Modified Lites with two wins in his last three outings. Last week’s winner Bob Poloski and points leader Ryan Nicewicz tangled, with Nicewicz flipping end over end and getting serious airtime. He was unhurt.
