On a spectacular Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Tyler King, of Livermore Falls opened the second week of the NASCAR Nite by grabbing his first victory of the season.

King who started in the second starting position battled side-by-side in the opening laps with Oakland’s, Mike Landry for the top spot. On lap four King edged Landry by a nose at the line to claim the top spot. A caution on lap 12 would re-group the 24-car field. Scarborough’s, Don Colpritt also took second from Landry and faced King on the restart.

On the restart, King chose the outside groove and faced Colpritt who started 10th in the field. The outside proved successful for King as he overcame Colpritt coming out of turn four to re-claim the lead. King led the field until another caution on lap 22 bunched the field back together.

King, again chose the outside leaders lane choice and proved dominant as he cruised by Colpritt for the top position. By the halfway mark, hard chargers Dan McKeage, of Gorham, and Windham’s, Corey Bubar broke inside the top five. McKeage and Bubar started 12th and 14th respectively.

King opened up a sizable lead over Colpritt and led the remaining 29 laps of the feature event and went on for his first win of the season. For King, it was a great momentum shift after struggling with mechanical issues in week one. It is King’s first win since July, 2014.

Other notables include Bobby Timmons, of Windham and Jay’s Dave Farrington each who started deep in the field and finished 6th and 7th respectively.
