PAUL WHITE TAKES LATE MODEL WIN AT SPEEDWAY 95

John Curtis Jr. of Hermon and Paul White of Corinna started on the front row of the Dysart’s Late Model feature at Speedway 95 Saturday night, and 40 laps later they were still side by side, with Paul White half a car ahead when they crossed the finish line. Curtis led the first 24 laps, until a caution came out for a spin by Lloyd Nickerson of Corinth that also collected Hermon’s Dale Swoboda as he tried to get by Nickerson as he spun. On the restart, White took the lead for the next six laps, until Curtis again challenged for the lead. The pair raced side by side and swapped the lead for the next 10 laps with Curtis making a last chance bid for the lead on the final lap, but fell just short at the line. Curtis finished second with Harrington’s Andrew McLaughlin in third. Fourth went to Brenton Parritt of Steuben with Wayne Parritt Jr. of Steuben finishing fifth. Nickerson and White won the qualifying races for the division.

Kris Matchett of Skowhegan returned to the winner’s circle in the Darling’s Ford Sportsman division, leading all 25 laps of the feature. D.C. Alexander of Glenburn chased Matchett for the entire distance, but was unable to close on him to challenge for the lead. Alexander was second, followed by Ryan Beale of Cherryfield, who passed last week’s winner, Emma Libby of Glenburn, mid-way through the event to take the third spot. Libby finished fourth with Mike Overlock of Franklin finishing fifth. Alexander won the divisions one heat race.

Jordan Pearson of Glenburn made it two in a row in the Pepsi Beverage Company Strictly Streets after passing early leader Keith Ogden of Holden on lap six. Pearson led the rest of the way to the checkers in the caution free 25 lap feature. Alex Berry of Harrington came from a fourth place start to finish second with Matt Kimball of Cornville nipping Burnham’s Chris King at the line for third. King finished fourth with Ogden coming home fifth after starting on the pole. Berry was the winner of the qualifier.

Nineteen cars started the Coca-Cola Sport-Four feature event, and 25 laps later it was number 19, Zach Audet of Skowhegan taking his seventh win of the season. Audet started 13th, but worked his way up the inside to take the lead from Newburg’s Darren Durrell on the 8th lap. Durrell held on to second with Hermon’s Andrew Crosby finishing third. 12 year old Dylan Street of Old Town ran a strong race finishing fourth, holding off Milford’s Garett Hayman, who finished fifth after starting in the 12th spot. Hayman and Jayson Bosworth of Cornville won the heat races for the night.
