BearRidgeLogoBrian Chaffee get the win in DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes with Mike Dunn getting it done in the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds

BRADFORD, VT – It took four hours from the time practice was supposed to start for the first green to wave on a features only night due to the rain on the annual Bradford Bull Dogs Benefit night sponsored by Swenson Insurance Co. As always when it comes to getting in the show, if you come, you can rest assured promoter C.V. Butch Elms will do everything in his power to get it done, and this time when the rainbow came out the infamous “Bear Ridge Speedway Jet Dryer” was cut down and track drying began. Because of time constraints a features only format was put in place and at 9:00 pm the first feature of the night hit the track with conditions being fast and smooth for some of the best racing seen a the Ridge in 2015.

The Sprint Cars of New England made their way around the ¼ mile clay oval in fine fashion, with a new winner beating out the veterans. Butch Valley Jr was able to capitalize on his front row starting position and hold off the hard fought challenges of Dan Douville and last visits feature winner Scott Holcomb. Both crossed the line behind Valley in that order.

It was all about the wings as the Granite State Mini Sprints were also in the house both sporting good fields of cars for the night. In the 500cc’s your top three were Matt Hoyt, Bob Griffin and Sean Beinhaur. In the 600cc’s victory lane was visited by: Kyle Belliveau, Tim Beard and Benjamin Bachand

The DIRTcar Bond Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds saw a new winner this week making Mike Dunn the tenth of the year. Dunn was able to take advantage of his front row starting spot and hold off the hard fought challenges of Gary Siemons who was waiting for Dunn to slip up once to be able to slip underneath him. Dunn held strong and went on for his first win of the season. As Siemons worked the leader Steve Bell in his best performance of the year, looked poised to be making his first victory lane visit in a Sportsman Mod. Unfortunately this race would be a half a lap too long as Adam Pierson was able to track him down and get by him on the last lap to take away the third place finish. Bell held on for fourth with Josh Currier coming home in fifth.

Brian Chaffee wrecked his primary car early in the season and brought out the car he had in his garage and took it to a feature win the first time out in the DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes. This week Chaffee was back in his primary car ready to take his favorite machine to victory lane. Chaffee starting up front fought the battle for the lead with Jeremy Beckley and finally was able to take over the point with just five laps to go, and hold off Beckley for his second with of the season. Joining Chaffee and Beckley in victory lane in the third place spot was Tim Hodge. Michael Danforth and Jason Horniak rounded out the top five.

The USAC DMA Midgets will return August 22 on Old Timers Night sponsored by Sabil & Sons.

An asphalt legend hit the dirt in the Crazy Ed’s Limited Late Models and it may have been the first time in history that father and son competed on the clay. Donny Lashua was in the backup car of son Matt Lashua and made it up to third mid-way thru the race. Son Matt starting up front was able to hold of the regulars Tim Martin and James Fadden for the point. Father Lashua came across the line one spot short of victory lane in fourth as he watched his son drive on for his second win the season over James Fadden and Tim Martin. Matt Boucher rounded out the top five.

The Weglarz Property Service/F.M.S. Auto Parts Four Cylinders saw a new winner as Hunter Garduno was able to hold off the very hard fought challenges of Jesse Durkee and rookie Robert Welch. David Durkee and Justin Severance completed the top five.
