Speedway95JOHN CURTIS JR. SCORES 95 LATE MODEL WIN

Hermon’s John Curtis Jr. fought off a late race challenge from 2015 division champion Brenton Parritt of Steuben to win the 40 lap Dysart’s Late Model feature at Speedway 95 Saturday night. Curtis led the majority of the laps in the event, but Parritt closed up following a mid-race restart and challenged Curtis over the last half of the race. Parritt finished second with Wayne Parritt Jr. of Steuben finishing third. Deane Smart of Bradley was fourth and Trey Brown of Winterport finished fifth in his first ever Late Model feature race.

Ricky Burgess JR. of Waterville won the Casella Waste Systems Street Stock 25 lap feature when Asa Jones of Sullivan fell out of the lead on the 21st lap with mechanical issues, after leading from the drop of the green. Bob Seger Jr. of Frankfort finished second, followed by Jeff Alley of Machias in third. Jim Carr Jr. of Clifton finished fourth with Jones finishing in fifth.

After ducking into the pits on two different caution periods, and restarting at the rear of the field each time, Zach Audet of Skowhegan took the lead on lap 23 of the 25 lap Coca-Cola Sport-Four feature and went on to post the win. 2015 division champion Andrew Crosby followed Audet across the finish line in second, with Benton’s Cole Robinson finishing third. Fourth went to Donny Silva of Hudson with Dustin Lancaster of Milo finishing fifth.

Keith Drost of Stetson got a lucky draw and started on the pole for the 20 lap RoadRunner feature and led all the way to post his fourth straight win. Sam Betts of Bradley finished second, followed by Michael Palmer of Winterport in third. Jason Skillins of Monroe finished fourth, followed by Mickey Godin of Hermon in fifth.

The Winston Misfits, a group of racers driving older Winston Cup look-a-likes made their first appearance at the speedway Saturday night, and their 20 lap feature was won by Kenny Robinson of Machias. Close behind him at the finish was Tim Reynolds of Milford in second and Kris Watson of Hermon in third. Fourth went to Eric Pelletier of Milford with Cody Farnsworth of Orono in fifth.

Racing action in the 2015 season at Speedway 95 continues on Saturday, September 26 with a 2:00 p.m. start time. Scheduled to race that day are the Dysart’s Late Models, the Outlaw Super Series of Maine, the Casella Waste Systems Streets, Coca-Cola Sport-Fours, the RoadRunners and the Modified Enduros. Following the races, the track will host the annual awards banquet and Bar-B-Que in the pit area of the track. The final races of the 2015 season will be on October 3rd and 4th when the speedway again hosts the annual Veteran’s Remembrance week-end.
