Sweet Caps “Rollercoaster” Weekend with ACT International Win

fsrdxfcPlattsburgh, NY – Nick Sweet showed why he’s one of the top American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model drivers in the Northeast on Sunday, July 19, capping a whirlwind two days by winning the ACT International at Plattsburgh, NY’s Airborne Park Speedway.

Barre, VT’s Sweet took the lead for the final time on lap 192 of the 200-lap event, beating out Alex Labbé on the final restart. The Thunder Road Late Model point leader will take home more than $10,000 for the win after lap-leader money and contingencies. The victory was also a redemption for Sweet after finishing second in the event in 2014.

Labbé Takes Third Serié ACT Win of Season in Chaudiere 150

fsrdxfcVallée-Jct., QC – Defending Serié ACT Champion Alex Labbé outdueled current point leader Dany Trépanier to win the Chaudiere 150 at Vallee-Jct., QC’s Autodrome Chaudiere in an event that took two days to complete due to rain.

St-Albert, QC’s Labbé took the lead from St-Edouard, QC’s Trépanier for the final time on lap 137 and survived a final restart with eight laps remaining for his third win of the season and ninth of his Serié ACT career. The event began on Saturday, July 11 before being halted after 44 laps and was restarted the afternoon of Sunday, July 12.

Sweet Eyes History in Vermont Governor’s Cup 150

fadrfsdvsxvBarre, VT – The VP Fuels Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 for Thunder Road’s American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models takes the green this Thursday, July 9. Numerous former Thunder Road Champions and winners are expected to challenge for the victory in the special long-distance event, but Barre’s Nick Sweet will try to do one better and further cement his place in Governor’s Cup history.

Sweet has won three of the last five Vermont Governor’s Cups, including the most recent event in 2014. A fourth win on Thursday would tie Sweet with six-time ACT Pro Stock Tour Champion Robbie Crouch atop the all-time winner’s list.

tgbnhyThe American Racer Three Star program has returned for the 2015 season. The program is designed to recognize three teams in no particular order of performance who had outstanding races at American Canadian Tour (ACT) U.S. Tour events. There are no specific criteria for deciding who might receive the award of a free American Racer tire (value $125.00), but special effort by a team, an exceptional race, just plain old hard luck, or other accepted reason to give the award is used to determine the recipients.
