LAKEVILLE, Conn. (April 1) – Lime Rock Park today announced its selection of AARP Foundation as its 2014 official charity to support Drive to End Hunger, a multi-year initiative to fight the risk of hunger for Americans age 50+.

Nearly 9 million Americans age 50+ are at risk for hunger every day – a 79 percent increase in just 10 years. Drive to End Hunger is AARP Foundation’s multi-pronged approach to solve this problem; it works to combat hunger among people 50 and older through raising awareness – especially through its relationship with Jeff Gordon, four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and driver of the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS for Hendrick Motorsports – as well as building philanthropic support and developing long-term, sustainable solutions.

Lime Rock: A Call to Volunteer Arms

limerockLAKEVILLE, Conn. (March 25) – Lime Rock Park has announced that for the first time in 31 years the historic track in Connecticut’s Northwest Corner is looking for people to “raise their hand and be a volunteer guest services staffer at Lime Rock Park during its major spectator race weekends.”

Volunteers would be joining its so-called “Esses Club Station Staff.”

Station Staff are involved with a wide range of guest services and facility endeavors, and will help park cars, man access points, check-in campers and assist with loading in race teams.

Lime Rock 2014 Schedule Published

LAKEVILLE, Conn. (Dec. 3) – Lime Rock Park’s 2014 spectator-event schedule opens with its traditional Memorial Day weekend, this year featuring the IMSA-sanctioned Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series Friday and Saturday, May 23-24, along with the fifth annual Sunday Royals Car Show on the 25th.

The Grand Sport (GS) and Street Tuner (ST) divisions will each have separate races on Saturday. Supporting the weekend is the popular IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama championship, plus VSCCA “handicap” races.

The Sunday Royals Car Show, which draws 200-400 prime vehicles of every kind – from rare sports cars and contemporary supercars to hundreds of muscle cars from the 60s and 70s – benefits local charities.

Lime Rock’s Sunday in the Park Concours

A Cunningham extravaganza and the rarest of Ferraris steal the show

LAKEVILLE, Conn. (Sept. 2) – Lime Rock Park’s “Sunday in the Park” Concours saw the first Ferrari to reach American shores win Best of Show honors from a field of 248 entrants in 29 classes. The 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa, presented by Miles Collier of the Revs Institute, crossed the podium driven by noted restorer Paul Russell and was handed the Best of Show trophy and a Frédérique Constant Genève Healey watch.

Other notable winners include a spectacular 1930 Aston Martin International in the “Risky But Racy – competition machines of merit pre-1945,” presented by Richard and Philip Rader of Briarcliff, N.Y.; a rare and valuable 1967 Shelby-prepped Toyota 2000 GT (Bob Tkacik, Saco, Maine) from the “Speed & Style – GT Cars 1965-1970” category; and a 1964 Ferrari Lusso owned by Roger Werner of Greenwich, Conn., winning the “Businessmen’s Express,” GT cars 1960-1965” class.
