Granite State Pro Stock Series Headed to Lee for Oktoberfest

As the 2020 racing season winds down, the action for the Granite State Pro Stock Series heats up. October fourth, the series will headline the Sunday portion of the annual Russ Conways Oktoberfest at the Lee USA Speedway.

For the first half of the season it was Ray Christain III dominating the point standings. The Uncasville CT driver suffered a parts failure at the Sept. race at Claremont Motorsports Park and was involved in a hard crash at the last event in Waterford CT. Christain III now sits 26 points behind Hudson NH’s Joey “Pole” Polewayczyk with Angelo Belsito forty points behind Pole.  All three drivers have entered to compete at Lee and gather all the points they can.

Derek Griffith is the defending winner of this race and comes in as the hottest driver in the northeast. In his last three starts, Griffith has won two races carrying a $10,000 winners check at each and finished second at the prestigious Star Classic. Griffith will look to keep his hot streak going at Lee this weekend.

CLAREMONT, N.H.- Both Aaron Fellows and Desmond Skillings wrapped up their 2020 Claremont Motorsports Park championship seasons with feature wins on September 25.

And while neither Kodi Sabins or Dustin Thibodeau earned a Championship Night victory lap, each left the third-mile oval Friday as the champion of his division. Dave Greenslit, on the other hand, came into Friday’s Street Stock feature already a back-to-back champion, having clinched the title on September 11.

Sunapee speedster Ricky Bly, himself a former track champion at the Thrasher Road speedplant, had a night to remember too, topping the Street Stock thriller and then quickly ducking pitside to strap into his LMS entry, in which he finished second on the night.

Cahoon Earns “King of the Mountain” Title as Laflamme Wins Barnburner

Cahoon Earns “King of the Mountain” Title as Laflamme Wins Barnburner

N. Woodstock, NH — St. Johnsbury, VT’s Stacy Cahoon showed he’s truly the ageless wonder of N. Woodstock’s White Mountain Motorsports Park by capturing the “King of the Mountain” title at WMMP Championship Night presented by C&S NAPA Auto Parts and Sanel NAPA on Saturday, September 26. The 62-year-old Cahoon sewed up his sixth Foley Oil & Propane Late Model crown with a fourth-place finish as youngster Christian Laflamme edged Mike “Beetle” Bailey for the victory.

Cahoon entered the 50-lap Late Model season finale with a three-point edge over Groveton’s Quinny Welch, who had won the previous five titles. The veteran started ninth and slowly picked his way through the field while Welch struggled to find the handle on his machine.

At the front, the event was a barnburner. Whitefield’s Laflamme grabbed the top spot at the initial green flag from polesitter Jon Savage. South Barre, VT’s Bailey quickly got the second spot and went to Laflamme’s inside. But while Bailey appeared to have the faster car, Laflamme held strong on the preferred high-side.
