NAPLES, ME (May 22) – A busy Memorial Day weekend for racing fans across the United States is on tap and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models will again be a big part of it. New Englanders will get to see the Northeast’s best Super Late Models tackle the high banks of the newly revamped Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday afternoon as part of the 57thAnnual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic. And, a lot will be on the line for PASS racers. Sunday’s 150 lapper at Thunder Road will be part of the “Road To The Oxford 250” programs, rewarding the top finishers with guaranteed spots for the biggest Super Late Model race in the country.
Barre, VT – After a three-week wait, Barre’s Thunder Road is ready to get the 2019 racing season back in gear. The 57th Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic hits the high banks this Sunday, May 26 with some of the biggest stars the Northeast ready for a huge holiday weekend.
Local racing fans don’t have to jet to Monaco, Indianapolis, or Charlotte to enjoy a great Memorial Day Sunday of racing. Thunder Road will have five divisions in action with each bringing their own brand of excitement to the high banks. All are still early in their respective seasons, meaning optimism will be high throughout the pit area for a great day and year ahead.
King of Dirt Racing Crate Modified Series Opens at Devil’s Bowl Sunday
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – The King of Dirt Racing (KOD) Crate Modified Series is ready to go. The KOD tour opens its fifth season on Sunday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, as A-Verdi Storage & Office Solutions presents the “Memorial Day Kickoff 50” as part of a huge holiday event at the Vermont track.

Full Moons always spell disaster on race night, and so at the weekly drivers meeting the drivers were asked to please not make it a typical full moon madness night, and that is exactly what they did with both of the Ridge’s headline divisions going green to checkers in their main events!
Sometime starting position is everything, especially when the track is fast and there are no cautions waving to regroup the pack. Matt Lashua was the one to capitalize on just such conditions in the DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds. Taking the lead on lap 4 he cruzed on for the win over Kevin Chaffee and Richie Simmons who simply ran out of time to set any hard challenges against him. Chris Donnelly in the Tim Tucker machine and Robert Tucker rounded out the top five.
First Round of 2019 “King of the Road” Battle Coming at Memorial Day Classic
Barre, VT – The battle to be the 2019 “King of the Road” begins Sunday, May 26 at 1:30pm. The 57th Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic is one of the oldest races at Thunder Road, and once again, it will be the opener of a 14-round Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Model campaign that spans from late-May to mid-September.
The 2019 season for the Green Mountain Gearheads Sprint Cars of New England finally kicked off at Bear Ridge Speedway Saturday May 11th with a caution free 25 lap Feature Event.
