Hudson NH – Mitch Wendell bested a strong field of Outlaw Sportsman to take his 2nd win of the season this past Sunday evening at Hudson Speedway.
From the pole position, Todd Warren led the early laps in the Outlaw Sportsman feature until Sean Waites got past him and built a big lead. A lap 10 caution bunched the field and pitted Bobby Allen against Waites on the front row for the restart. Allen powered past Waites when the green flag flew and held the top spot for many laps but Wendell was making his way up front and got to the outside of Allen with 5 laps to go. Wendell worked the outside groove for a few laps finally clearing Allen with 2 laps to go and drove on to victory. 2nd through 10th were Allen, last weeks winner Tim Casey, Lee Weldy, Waites, Chris Lee, John Meany, Rick Woodside Jr., Dave Blanchard and Ron Lord Jr.
As he did the previous week, Jerry Lepage led the first five circuits of the Rookie Stock feature before Andy Nichols took control and led the middle part of the race. John Morin charged by Nichols with 5 laps to go leading the final laps to score his 2nd victory of the year. Corey Merritt overcame an early race flat tire to finish 2nd, Dean Wendell made a furious run in the closing laps going from 7th to 3rd in four laps and finished 3rd. 4th through 10th were Nichols, Keith Ennis, Roland Leplante, Brian Harron, Scott Duvall, Lepage and Heath Tuirtelotte.
Jef James led all the laps in the Roadrunner main except the last one. With Louis Maher within a few car lengths the whole race, James went to the top of the track to pass a lapped car on the last lap and Maher went low to pass but the lapped car pushed up and Maher came home 1st followed by James. Eric Miller was 3rd, Peter Raby 4th and Don Soucy 5th.
Dylan Bilodeau won the Thunder Lite feature, 2nd trough 5th were Derek Griffith, Bobby Stirk lll, Gage Harron and Sam Gilman.
Dave Heliwell won the Mini Cup main followed by Chris Igo and Bobby Stirk lll.
Dustin Cheney showed the way in his sleek Honda in the Spectator race, Brian Ethien won the Flagpole race, and Charlie Baldwin won the Spectator Drags.
