Austin Theriault: ACT Late Model Tour
White Mountain Motorsports Park Race Preview

Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, rides a big wave of momentum as the ACT Late Model Tour rolls into White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, N.H., for the ACT 150 on Saturday, June 26. Theriault has posted back-to-back top-10 finishes for the first time in his career as he enters the event. Though the 16-year-old driver has never competed in an ACT Late Model on the tight quarter-mile, he did run the PASS North Series 150-lap event at the track in mid-May. Before heading to White Mountain, however, Theriault will enter the VT Governor’s Cup 150 — a non-points event for ACT-legal cars — at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., on Thursday night, June 24. He has never raced at Thunder Road.

AUSTIN, HOW PUMPED ARE YOU ABOUT THE RESULTS FROM THE LAST TWO RACES — A 9th-PLACE FINISH AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY AND A 10th-PLACE RUN AT OXFORD PLAINS SPEEDWAY?

I know we’re top-10 material. It can only get better from this. Sure, there will be bad days at some point, but I’m still pretty encouraged right now.

TALK ABOUT YOUR BUSY WEEK AHEAD.
I don’t have high expectations for Thunder Road, I really just want to get there and shake the car down. From what people tell me, it’s a pretty tough track. Then we’ll go back to White Mountain (on Saturday) — and maybe catch the NASCAR race at Loudon on Sunday.

(White Mountain is) a fairly high-banked track. You can’t really compare it to Oxford at all. We had an OK run there in the PASS car. Could have done worse, could have done better — but I got a feel for the track, and I think that will really help us out on Saturday.
