JOEY, HOW GOOD DOES IT FEEL TO FINALLY HAVE A NIGHT GO YOUR WAY?
Just finishing and having a good run is the biggest thing right now. After the heat race (when we broke a distributor gear), I thought to myself, ‘Oh, here we go again.’ But everybody worked really hard and we got back out just in time for the consi and made the race.
The car handled so good, if we qualified better I know we had a car good enough to win. But starting 25th, we used up so much of our tires just getting up there. Still, I’m really pleased with the way the Ford motor performed and it feels good to have something good to talk about.
THE CAR SEEMED TO BE BEST ON LONG RUNS TONIGHT.
Oh yeah, it really was. We picked them off one at a time it seemed. The outside groove was working really well for me, and I was really able to use that and then drive up off the corners underneath guys.
It was a good night, and everybody raced each other with a lot of respect out there.
