Joey Polewarczyk Gives Ford Racing 1st ACT Victory

SCARBOROUGH, Maine — It feels like the first time.

Joey Polewarczyk Jr. handed Ford Racing its first ACT Late Model Tour victory on Saturday night, winning the ACT 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. The victory was Polewarczyks first of the season and the fifth of his ACT career.

“It feels awesome to give Ford its first win,” said Polewarczyk, who led the final 53 laps of the event. “They’ve stuck with us from the beginning. Whenever we had problems, they were right there to support us. I’m so happy to do this for them.”

Rookie Austin Theriault finished second to give Ford Racing a 1-2 finish in the event.

Polewarczyk started fourth in the 33-car field in the No. 97 Pole’s Automotive/NH Precision Ford Fusion and used the outside lane to his advantage, taking the lead for the first time just 14 laps in. He stayed on the point until lap 84, when Jeff Taylor took the lead from him on a restart. The two battled for the lead on ensuing restarts, until Polewarczyk finally took over for good on lap 98.

It was Polewarczyk’s first Late Model victory since the VT Governor’s Cup 150 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in June of 2009 and first tour victory since May of the same year at Oxford Plains Speedway.

“It feels great. It was definitely a rough start to the year, but no one ever gave up,” Polewarczyk said. “My guys worked as hard as they always did.

“It’s been a learning process with the Ford, and it’s definitely a great feeling to come here and get a win like that.”
