Big Daddy’s Speedbowl Press Release: For Immediate Release

Wentworth, NH – The Ayer family supplied the trophies for the racers
at Big Daddy’s Speedbowl last Saturday. Chief Starter and Educational
Director Ray Moses informed us the word of the week was “Spectacular,”
and the action on the track lived up to his expectations.
Big Daddy hosted the final visit of the year from the Granite State
Mini Sprint Club, making up a race they postponed earlier in the
season. Terry Reil (11) won the 600cc feature, with Drew Eldridge (7)
coming in second, and third going to Justin Eldridge (74). In the
500cc main event, it was Billy Lussier (25) leading Peter Belliveau
(04) and Chris Lussier (2) to the stripe.
The OE Parts Direct Mini-Stocks were the first regular division out
for their feature. Shane LaBraney (L16) of Franklin took the win over
points leader Matt Morrill (9) Center Harbor and Taylor Fletcher (27)
of Ashland.
Campton’s JP Vaillancourt (14x) won the other 4-cylinder class, the
Camaro Heaven Bandits. Early leader Tim Derosier (4) of staged a
valiant comeback after a cut tire took him out of first place, but
settled for second. Chris Kirk borrowed Dana Whiting’s #04 Mustang and
came in third.
Brad Shanks (8) of Rumney extended his lead in the Mike’s Automotive
Late Model division with his “Dirt Track Cadillac”, taking his
eleventh feature win of the season. “Dangerous” Dan Collins (4) of W,
Canaan experimented with a new set-up and earned a second-place
trophy, followed closely by Mike McClay (82) of Holderness.
The most “spectacular” finish of the night took place in the Cutting
Edge Graphix/Keyser Trucking Super Street division. Mark Jenot (88) of
Plymouth led from the green flag, but spent the entire 20 laps
fighting off challenges first from Derek O’Hearn (14) of Campton and
then Mark Brown (47) of Rumney. Mike Stygles (16) of Peirmont,
returning from semi-retirement and challenged in a car borrowed from
the stable of the late, great Stub Fadden of N. Haverhill. He was
disqualified after the officials agreed that he deliberately shoved
Mark Brown into the wall coming out of turn four on the final lap. The
third car to cross the finish line was Sean Ayer (61) of Concord who
had the pleasure of taking home one of the trophies his family
provided.
No less exciting was the final race of the night, the Mid State
Trucking Modifieds feature. Points leader Chad Turck (56) of
Pittsfield took an early lead, but Todd Petscke (09) of Windsor, Vt
quickly caught and passed him. Todd led the rest of the way and took
top honors. Trevor Rocke (63) of Canaan came from the rear of the
field taking second with Thornton’s “Flyin'” Ryan Avery (01) picking
up the third spot.
