Hudson NH –The Helliwell boys ruled at Hudson International Speedway on the final race day of the 2010 season. All three Helliwells that were racing won in their respective divisions with George Helliwell in the Classic Lites, Bill Helliwell in the Rookie Stocks and Dave ”Hollywood” Helliwell in the Roadrunners.

George Helliwell was first to win picking up his second feature win in the Classic Lites. Billy Ryder was second to cross the stripe. Dwayne Skofield finished third. Shane Reinhold had his best finish of the season with a fourth place run. Eddie Gilman was running third most of the race and had third by a large margin on the white flag lap but got sideways in turn one and drove through the infield and by the time he was back on track had slipped to fifth and finished in that spot. Sixth through tenth were Ryan Bishop, Paul Colson, Danny Shields, Craig Lambert and Hulk Harton. Helliwell and Shields won the heats.

Billy Ryder won the Classic Lites Championship for the second time.

The next member of the Helliwell family to grace victory lane was Bill who earned his first career win in the Rookie Stocks. It was especially sweet for Bill as last week his feature race ended with him sliding on his side in the dirt off the backstretch after hitting the tire barrier. Helliwell started on the front row but it wasn’t an easy win by any means with two-time champion Scotty Duval on his bumper the entire race.

Bill even had to endure a rain delay at lap eight. With rain falling, speedway officials sent the Rookies off the speedway and brought out the 4 Cylinder Enduros for their race and by the end of that race the rain had stopped and the track had begun drying.

Dean Wendell won the Rookie Stock championship for the second season in a row.

Duval finished second followed by Jerry Lepage, Slika, Dean Wendell, Andy Nichols, Dan Murphy Jr., John Morin Jr., Rosebud Shea and Chuck Roberto. Helliwell and Murphy Jr. won the heats.

Hollywood Helliwell won the Roadrunner main in dramatic fashion with a last corner pass with cars spinning and going off the track. Jason Carroll led almost the entire race after taking the lead from Jen Lord in the opening laps. Carroll stretched out his lead in the first half of the race until Loren Smith Jr. reeled him in with Hollywood some car lengths behind. Carroll runs a low line on the speedway and that forces most cars to the outside for a pass and it was no different this time. Smith Jr. got to the outside of Carroll in the closing laps while Hollywood was working the inside right behind Carroll. Hollywood looked inside a few times but there wasn’t room so had to pull up behind Carroll. The trio had caught and begun passing lapped traffic by the time they got to the white flag and going into the final turns Carroll made contact with a lapped car and it spun forcing both Carroll and Smith Jr. off turn four and that allowed Hollywood to get by for the win. Also getting by was Louie Maher who finished second and Johnny Reefer who came home third. Carroll made it over the line in fourth and Jef James was fifth. Sixth through tenth were Eric Miller, Jamie Swallow, Jesse Tellier, Leon Keniston and Bob Fields. Maher and Jen Lord won the heats.

Louie Maher became the third driver to win back-to-back championships in the Roadrunners since their inception in 1994. Ron Normandin won the 1997 and 1998 titles and Joe Caprigno won the 2000 and 2001 titles.

Nick Fissette won his first career feature in the Thunder Lites. Fissette dominated the race winning by more than a half lap. Jarrod Soucy was second followed by Chad Wendell, Meegan Lord, Carlos Esquivel, Mike Gelinas, Sammy Gilman and Justin Beecher. Fissette won the heat.

Chad Wendell won the Thunder Light championship by over four hundred points.

Louie Maher won the 4 Cyl. Enduro followed by Jesse Tellier, Billy Clement Jr., Jessica Coulter and Shawn Miller.

Frank Bryan won the Grand Enduro followed by Corrie Merritt and Brian Hunter.

Roland Coutu Jr. won the Spectator Race. Ryan Tosi won the Flagpole race. Jeb Geukols won the Spectator Drags.
