McKennedy Grabs Fourth Victory With Twin State Win

Claremont, N.H. — Modified Racing Series point leader Jon McKennedy, of E. Chelmsford, MA, captured the 100-lap Twin State Fall Challenge feature race at the Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH., Sunday afternoon. The win was McKennedy’s fourth of the season, his eleventh career victory, and his second win at the New Hampshire speedway. McKennedy widened his point lead by 61 points over Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, VT.

Steven Masse, of Bellingham, MA, jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag with outside pole sitter Jim Boniface, Winchester, NH., chasing the leader for the first 27 laps until passed by Ron Goodenough, Swanzey, NH. Goodenough eventually took the lead on lap 54 before turning it back over to Masse on lap 56.

Goodenough reclaimed the top spot on laps 65 through 70 before being passed by Masse again on the 71st lap. Masse, with a fast closing McKennedy led the charge through lap 82 when the defending champion took the point to go on and win the race, slowed by 13 caution flags.

“This was a tough race, started 18th, got into the top 10,got caught up in a little wreck, got shuffled back on a restart and had to pass a lot of cars again. Lucky I had a good enough car to win,” said the 2010 champion.

McKennedy was followed by Masse, Matt Hirschman, Northampton, PA., Les Hinckley III, Windsor Locks, CT, and Joey Jarvis, Ascuney, VT. Sixth through tenth were, Ken Barry, Preston, CT., Chris Pasteryak, CT., Jacob Dore, Sanford, ME., Eddy Spiers, Beacon Falls, CT, and Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, VT.
