Rob Richardi, Jr. Claims Second World Series Win in Two Years

Thompson, CT- October 16, 2010- Thompson International Speedway played host to the RF Logic/ Bot- L Gas Pro Four Modifieds this weekend. With practice and qualifying rained out on Friday night, the drivers were left with just a feature on Saturday night.

Before the green was even thrown, #11a Dan Meservey, Sr. pulled his car pit side. George Sherman and Phil Lausier brought the cars to the green and raced evenly into turn two. By lap two Dave Richardi and Brian Vincent were making moves on the low side, as Rob Richardi, Jr., moved into second place as Lausier slipped into fourth.

Moments later the caution was thrown as Dave Bedard Spun and Robin Berghman was found in the infield. On the restart it was Sherman on the point, with Vincent pushing from behind. Lausier fought hard to hang on the fourth position with pressure from Adam Norton, Wrenn, and D. Richardi from behind.

Richardi, Jr., was able to make the pass for the lead on the high side with Vincent and Norton following suit. By lap six, Norton made a pass for the lead and Vincent tagged along. The cars spread out single file with Norton leading Richardi, Jr., Wrenn, Vincent, Sherman, and Lausier. As Norton set the pace, Richardi, Jr., and Wrenn put on quiet a show of hard racing for second place.

By lap 14 the leaders began putting cars down a lap as Tyler Anderson and D. Richardi put on a good race for 6th and Sherman, Lausier, and Frank Perry battled a little further back. The final caution of the race was thrown on lap 23 when Stan Mertz blew a motor and pulled behind the wall. On the restart Norton missed a shift allowing Richardi, Jr. and Wrenn to make the pass. Norton was able to hold of Vincent and D. Richardi but in the end it was Richardi, Jr. claiming his third victory of the season and second World Series title in a row.
