BOBBY THERRIEN FIRST TO ENTER 2011 BOND/WIX TIGER TOUR

Waterbury, VT – American Canadian Tour (ACT) Tiger-Sportsman driver Bobby Therrien from Hinesburg, VT was the first to file a full entry for the 2011 BOND/WIX Tiger Tour.

The 2011 tour has been expanded to five 100-lap events. The Sportsman division has been in existence at home track Thunder Road in Barre, VT since 1964. For many northeast fans, the division is considered the most competitive weekly division in the Northeast. Most of the past and many of today’s stars of the American Canadian US Tour have been graduates of the Sportsman division.

Therrien is one of the many young guns who started his racing career in the Northeast Kart Company (NEKC), which has provided many of the current stars of Thunder Road (TR) with their start. The NEKC leased TR for over a decade.

“This is going to be a great summer. I really like the long distance races, and expanding to five races this year. With the five totally different type tracks, it is really going to be a challenge. That is what makes it so much fun,” said Therrien.

The BOND/WIX TIGER Tour will open Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road as part of a twin 100-lap double-header with the ACT Late Models over the Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic weekend. Summer events will see return trips to White Mountain Motorsports Park in Lincoln, NH on Saturday, July 16, 2011 and Canaan Fair Speedway, Canaan, NH, on Saturday, August 20, 2011. The Sportsman teams will compete in the Johnny Clark Memorial 101 at the Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH on Saturday, September 17, 2011. On Saturday, October 08, 2011 the final event of the series will be held on the Airborne Speedway half mile in Plattsburgh, NY as part of a Fall Foliage weekend with the American Canadian Tour and ACT Castrol Series combined season ending events.
