DIRT LATE MODELS RETURN TO CANAAN DIRT SPEEDWAY

Canaan Dirt Speedway general manager, Dick Therrien has come to an agreement with local dirt Late Model teams to add them to the schedule on a limited basis in 2011. The Late Models ran at Canaan a few seasons ago before their numbers dwindled, and the demise of the group came about.

“These guys are good local racers and wanted to get a few races at another area track, stated Therrien. Both sides made some concessions at the Canaan Speedway’s informational meetings this past Saturday and came up with a plan that would give the group two races a month throughout the 2011 season. They will race for a bare bones purse, and will be part of our championship series. I am confident that we can make this work, as the teams are very eager to have this opportunity. I am working as we speak to fit them into the schedule.”

The 2011 rulebook will be the same rules that are in place for Big Daddy’s Speedbowl. These rules will be updated as deemed necessary for the fairness of competition. The purse structure is as follows:

1st – $200
2nd – $150
3rd – $110
4th – $100
5th – $75
6th on back $50 / car

The next event on the calendar will be the Diamond Run mall Car Show which will be held Friday through Sunday, March 25th-27th.
