Snow Ridge Ski Resort next stop for East Coast Snocross Series,
Presented by Woody’s Traction & AMSOIL

CHESHIRE, Conn. (Feb. 28, 2011) – It’s no secret that in order to build a high-quality snocross track, you need tons of snow. And as winter starts to lose its grip on parts of New England, choosing a site to ensure that snow is more critical than ever. Yet officials have found the perfect spot, and it is well known to snowmobilers.

For decades, New York’s famed Tug Hill Plateau has been known as a trail-riding paradise, and now the racing crowd will find out why the region is so dear to the hearts of many.

Snocross teams from across New England and eastern Canada will head for Tug Hill, as East Coast Snocross (ECS) gets set for Round 7 on the nine-race 2011 schedule Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6, at the beautiful Snow Ridge Ski Resort in Turin, New York.

Spectator gates open at 10 a.m. each day, with racing getting under way at 11 a.m. Admission is $15 per day for adults, children age seven and under are free with a paying adult. Pit passes valid through the weekend are available for an extra $10.

Leading the charge into Turin is Pro rider Mathieu Morin. The veteran athlete from Val-D’Or, Quebec, is closing in on the 2011 championships. Morin (Ski-doo) has experience on the national circuit, and it shows in his performance. Chasing him on a weekly basis is former champion Danny Poirier, another Quebec native. Poirier (Polaris) is a bit older with a wife and family, yet he rides like a young racer with silky-smooth moves and is super-fast each week.

Other top Pro riders to watch at Snow Ridge include Minnesota natives Matt Piche (Polaris) and Matt Pichner (Arctic Cat). Both have national experience and both ride for teams with factory support. And making headlines lately is rookie sensation Lincoln Lemieux, who earned a podium finish at the recent ISOC Eastern Nationals in Farmington, New York. Look for Lemieux to contend for his first ECS Pro victory at Snow Ridge.

In the talent-laden Semi-Pro division, riders to watch include New Hampshire native Jake daSilva, points leader Chris Ackerman from Vermont; Hayward, Wisconsin’s Jacob Muller; Lucas Brunelle of Quebec; New Jersey native Jesse James Bonaduce; New York riders Dale Petrus, Andrew Bailey, Joey Stock and Taylor Collins; Danny Graves and Nick Campbell.

Along with the high-flying action in the Pro and Semi-Pro divisions, the weekend at Snow Ridge will also feature points races for the Sport, Women and Junior divisions. There are classes for all ages and ability levels, including Trail Stock 700 for first-time racers.

Snow Ridge offers 22 well-groomed trails on 130 ski-able acres. With an average snowfall of over 230 inches, locals can enjoy the slopes both earlier and later than they could at many other resorts. Snow Ridge opened back in 1945, and has been putting smiles on the faces of skiers and riders for generations. To learn more, go to www.snowridge.com.
