SHAYNE PRUCKER LOOKS TO CONTEND FOR SK LIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AT STAFFORD WITH MAINLINE HEATING & SUPPLY AS HIS SPONSOR
(Stafford Springs, CT)—After an up and down rookie season that saw him
finish 17th in the SK Light Modified points standings, Stafford Springs
native Shayne Prucker will return to his hometrack this season with Mainline
Heating and Supply as his sponsor for the second consecutive season. After
his rough 2010 season, he is looking to push ahead and is setting his goal
to capture the 2011 SK Light Modified championship.
“I really think we have a good chance at winning the championship this
year,” said Prucker. “Last year we had more bad luck than good, and every
time we thought something worked for us, it seemed like things changed. Our
goal is to get to the front, and be a strong contender throughout the season
in every race.”
Prucker and the Mainline Heating & Supply team had a great start to their
rookie season with a solid ninth place finish in the CARQUEST Tech-Net
Spring Sizzler event. But the second race of the year found Prucker caught
up in a multicar accident, which sidelined the team for several weeks while
they repaired the car.
“The wrecks we got into last year were pretty tough for us to recover from,”
said Prucker. “It wasn’t fun for us missing a few races and with the
handicapping it was tough having to start in the back of the pack.”
Although there were several lows for Prucker and the Mainline team last
season, there were also some high points. Along with his debut top-10
finish, Prucker posted three of his four top-10 finishes over his final 5
starts of the season and he is confident that he can repeat that performance
this year.
“Having a year of experience will definitely help us out a lot this year,”
said Prucker. “The past year, we learned and accomplished a lot. We
learned what we should and shouldn’t do with the car and we learned what
will and won’t work for us. If we get luck on our side, it should lead to a
great season. With the car working properly and big power from RAD Auto
Machine, hopefully we can make some magic happen. With my crew chief, Don
Bessette, my dad and Austin Bessette, I feel like I have a great team behind
me. We all work well together and hopefully we can have a successful year.
We rebuilt the car together over the winter, and we’re always talking about
how we can make things better or what might make the car go faster or turn
better. Between the four of us, I feel we can build a top notch race car.”
Prucker will begin his quest for the SK Light championship on April 30 as
part of the 40th Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler Weekend. The SK
Lights will be joined by the Whelen Modified Tour as well as Stafford’s
other four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions for an action packed
weekend of NASCAR racing. Tickets for the “Greatest Race in the History of
Spring” are on sale now at the Speedway Box Office. Tickets are priced at
$35.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14,
and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied
by an adult. Reserved seating is priced at $38.00 for all ages. As always,
Stafford Motor Speedway offers free parking with overnight parking
