Speedway 95 get drivers and fans ready for opening day

With just 3 weeks to go before opening day for the 2011 racing season, Speedway 95 officials have filled the week-ends with activities to get drivers and fans ready for opening day. On Saturday, April 23, the pit area will open at 10:00 a.m. for the annual Car Show and Flea Market. Running until 5:00 p.m. that day, the event will have cars ready for the season on display as well as vendors selling racing parts and products. On Saturday, April 30, the track will open at 10:00 a.m. for practice in all divisions. Practice times will run by divisions throughout the day, and will end promptly at 5:00 p.m.

Opening day for the 2011 racing season is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, with the program beginning at 4:30 with the annual pretty car contest with racing action starting at 5:00 p.m. Speedway 95 will run 5 divisions on it’s Saturday night program this year. Highlighting the opening day program will be a 50 lap feature event in the popular Late Model division, with racing in the new Sportsman (formerly Super Street) division, the Street Stocks, Sport 4’s and the new Bomber division. Admission for the Car Show and Flea Market on April 23rd is free, as is admission to the grandstands for the practice session on April 30. There will be an admission charge to enter the Pit Area on practice day. Anyone wishing to display a race car on April 23rd should call Alice Baker at 989-4317 to register.
