Canaan, N.H. – #97 Joey Polewarczyk Jr of Hudson N.H. has won the Subway Fresh Fit 150, held at Canaan Speedway. Originally scheduled for May 7 but postponed due to inclement weather, the Fresh Fit 150 saw 23 cars return to action, on a beautiful early June Sunday.
Joey started third on the grid and the leader #14 Brad Leighton was the man to beat early on. Polewarczyk said he was just trying to keep within a couple car lengths of Leighton and for much of the race, that is what he did.
A caution on lap 120 brought out by Leighton for a blown right-front tire gave Polewarczyk his opportunity to close the deal and take home the cool $5,000 dollar Winner’s purse.
On the restart, Joey had his hands full of #27 Wayne Helliwell and #37 Brian Hoar, after 3 laps Joey was stretching his lead out over the second place Brian Hoar and the #08 of Donnie Lashua. Joey would not be contested the rest of the way, for the victory.
“We had a great car today, the Pole’s Automotive, NH Precision Ford handled like it was on rails; I can’t thank my crew enough.” Joey went on to say, “We returned home from Oxford Plains at 3:30 this morning, got to the shop at 5am and loaded to come up here to Canaan . We need a nap”
