LOUDON, N.H. (July 20, 2011) -With the curtain closing on the LENOX Industrial Tools 301, it is time to add up the gracious donations raised through the New Hampshire Motor Speedway chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities and so far this year, over $100,000 has been raised.
The money, along with additional fundraisers throughout the remainder of the 2011 season will be distributed at the end of the year to children in need throughout New England.
Seven events were held during the action-packed NASCAR week. The SCC fundraisers included; the One for the Kids Golf Tournament presented by Malco Distributors of New England which allowed fans the chance to golf with NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers Reed Sorenson and Brian Scott. The dinner with Tony Stewart auction gave two lucky winners and their guests an opportunity to enjoy dinner with the NASCAR champion. Speedway Children’s Charities annual Track Walk gave participants the chance to walk where their favorite NASCAR drivers raced. The Laps for Charity event allowed race fans to drive their own car around “The Magic Mile” for the ultimate fantasy drive. The Ride of a Lifetime auction gave fans the opportunity to rub elbows with NASCAR’s best during a parade lap prior to the Sprint Cup Series race. New this year was the Princess 4 a Day and Toy 4 a Boy program, which created memories for each child in attendance. Finally the annual Governors Breakfast, which featured NASCAR drivers Trevor Bayne and Joey Logano raised $50,000 for CHaD and David’s House.
“What a great way to start our second year of Speedway Children’s Charities,” said Jerry Gappens president of the New Hampshire Chapter of SCC and executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “Because of the tremendous efforts of many volunteers and the generous support of these events by corporate partners and the fans, we’re continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of so many children right here in our region.”
Speedway Children’s Charities has several events planned for the MoveThatBlock.com INDY 225 on Aug. 12-14 and for the SYLVANIA 300 Sept. 22-25. Programs include a lobster bake, Ride of a Lifetime auction and much more.
