Hudson N.H. –Jarrod Soucy won his fourth Thunder Light feature of the 2011 racing season this past Sunday July 24th at Hudson International Speedway.
Carlos Esquivel had the best race of his career leading the first half of the feature until Soucy got past him. Following Soucy at the finish were Justin Beecher, Chad Wendell, Meegan Lord and Esquivel. Soucy won the heat.
Ron Lord Jr. won his first Outlaw Sportsman feature of the season and in doing so took over the points lead from Geoff Rollins. Rick Woodside Jr. took the lead from his outside pole starting position and quickly built a big lead. Woodside Jr. led the first twenty laps of the thirty lap event before Lord Jr. drove around the outside of him on lap twenty-one. Lord Jr. wasn’t challenged from that point and was followed across the finish line by Jay Maki, Derek Griffith, Todd Warren, Dean Wendell, Woodside Jr., Matt Bosowski, Tom ‘The Terror’ Tomberello, Matt Robinson and Stan Maki. Robinson and Maki won the heats.
Jason Carroll won his fourth feature of the season in the Roadrunners. Carroll took over the points lead from Nick Fisette.
Jef James jumped out to a huge lead in the early going until a caution erased it. Shawn Waites Jr. and Carroll both got past James on the restart. With Waites Jr. leading Carroll they ran nose to tail for many laps with Carroll looking high and low but Carroll wasn’t able to make a pass. As the duo started lapping cars they were joined in the battle for the lead by Mr. Johnny Reefer. Carroll made it past Waites Jr. while the group was passing a back marker but things got real tight going down the back stretch and the lapped car ended up spinning off the track and brought out a caution. The caution negated Carroll’s pass since speedway rules state that restarts are scored on the last completed lap.
After the restart Carroll just needed a few laps to get back past Waites Jr. and drive on to victory. Waites Jr. was second followed by Mr. Reefer, Fisette, Jen Lord, Matt Lombard, Scott Dunklee, Peter Raby, Lightning Keniston and James.
John Morin Jr. won his second Rookie Stock main of the season. Second through tenth were Corrie Merritt, Dan Murphy Jr., Steven Dickey, Billy Clement Jr., Ronnie Robinson, Roger Tanguay Sr., Sir Scott Duval, Mike McHugh and Scott Thomson.
Steve Dubois won the Spectator Drags. Guy Toupin won the Spectator Race, Sir Scott Duval won the Flagpole Race.
Next week July 31st is the double features for the Rookies, Roadrunners and Thunder Lights plus the always exciting New England V6 Modifieds, Spectator Drags, Flagpole Race and the Spectator Race. Gates open at 4PM and the first race is at 6pm. For more info please visit http://www.hudsonspeedway.info.
