LOUDON, N.H. (Aug. 13, 2011) -IZOD IndyCar Series championship points leader Dario Franchitti continued to dominate at New Hampshire Motor Speedway today, capturing the pole for Sunday’s MoveThatBlock.com INDY 225.

Franchitti, who pilots the No. 10 Nikon car, recorded an aggregated lap time of 43.1976 at an average speed of 170.843 mph.

“The run itself felt pretty good,” said Franchitti. “This was the first time I have been wide open in both ends. At first you are approaching 180 mph, you just keep your foot down and you have to put faith that it will stick. The Target guys did a great job with the setup and the old driver did okay, too.”

The 2010 series champion has been fast all weekend. He and Target Chip Ganassi teammate Scott Dixon were one-two in Thursday’s practice session.

Starting second, will be Oriol Servia, who recorded an average speed of 169.831 mph behind the wheel of his No. 2 Telemundo car for Newman/Haas Racing.

“These guys give me the best car when it counts,” said Servia. “We came here with hopes of having a good race because Newman/Haas has done well here. When it is a new track that no one has been on, you hope to figure things out before everyone else does. I love this place, it is a lot of fun to drive here, it is one of the most challenging and ballsy tracks I have been on,” he added.

The green flag for the MoveThatBlock.com INDY 225 is set to drop at 4 p.m. tomorrow. Tickets can be purchased by calling the NHMS ticket hotline at (603) 783-4931 or by visiting www.nhms.com.
