Pit area expanded to accommodate more race teams

Bear Ridge Speedway is ready to raise the curtain on its 45th season on Saturday, May 5, and is expected to draw its largest opening night field of dirt track stock cars ever. So many entries are anticipated for the event, sponsored by KDD NAPA of Bradford, that the pit area has been expanded to accommodate more team haulers and race cars.

The six divisions in the 99ROCK Weekly Racing Series have seen a major growth spurt during the off-season, including a large number of rookie teams and returning veterans in the Bond Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes, and the A Notch Above Automotive Limited Late Models.

The USAC Dirt Midget Association has expanded its schedule to 11 races in its sophomore season, and – like the Modifieds and Coupes – is expected to attract 20 or more entries at each race. The Weglarz Property Service Fast Four and KDD NAPA Hornet divisions have also seen growth during the winter and spring months.

The 2012 season officially starts with the annual Bear Ridge Speedway Car Show at the Bradford Jiffy Mart in downtown Bradford, VT on Saturday, May 5, beginning at 9:00am. Practice will begin at the speedway at 2:00pm, and the season’s first green flag will wave at “6:00-ish” on Saturday night. General admission is $10 for adults (age 18-61), $8 for teens (12-17) and seniors (62+), and $2 for children. Season passes are also available; Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

Bear Ridge Speedway is located on Kidder Road in Bradford, VT, just off Exit 16 on Interstate 91.
