WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
BRIAN HOAR, Driver of the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge, On his goals for this weekend at Canaan Fair Speedway: “Redemption. That’s what it’s about. We’re brining the same car we took last weekend (to the Spring Green 112). We’re going to try and figure that thing out.
“We won the first two races this year, but it wasn’t in dominating fashion in any way, shape or form. Are we 100 percent where we need to be? Heck no. There were some rule changes this year that made changes to everybody’s setups. We’re learning what’s working and what’s not working. It’s no relation to last weekend, necessarily, but we’ve figured out some things that are working for us this year and we’ve figured out some things that aren’t.
“We don’t treat it any differently at all. It’s another race, and we’re going there prepared to win.”
On turning the page from ACT racing last weekend to open competition racing this weekend: “I think (team owner and crew chief Rick Paya) knows now what to do to be fast this weekend. I’m pretty excited, because we spent a lot of time at the shop (on Tuesday) and I recognized what he’s talking about.
“I’m pumped. Definitely pumped. Forget last week. We put ourselves in a bad position in that heat race, but this is another race. We’re treating it as the next race for us.”
On the importance of participating in open shows like this one at Canaan Fair Speedway: “They mean something. I think some of the guys we raced with last year at this race – I had never seen some of them before. We had great races. These are good for bringing new, fresh racers together. It’s a chance for them to race with us, and us with them.
“I think these big-money shows are great, these open shows. I think fans get a treat out of it, too. ACT fans get to see new guys they don’t usually see, and the fans at Canaan get to see ACT guys they don’t normally see. Last year, there were a lot of good teams that went – us, Wayne Helliwell, Joey (Polewarczyk), Brad Leighton. I think that’s great for everybody.”

The ACT Late Model Tour holds it’s only points-paying event of the season at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, with the Oxford 150 on Sunday, May 20… Brian Hoar has never won at Oxford Plains, though has not finished outside the Top-5 at Oxford in his last three ACT starts there – finishing second, third and fifth in those three events.
