Granite State Pro Stock Series Prepare To Go Back-to-Back
Star Speedway hosts Pro Stocks August 18; GSPSS return to Hudson on August 26
The Granite State Pro Stock Series kick off their busiest stretch of stock car auto racing with back-to-back weekends in the southeastern part of New Hampshire. Star Speedway, located in Epping, NH, will welcome the Granite State Pro Stock Series on Saturday night, August 18. One week later, Hudson (NH) Speedway will host the Granite State Pro Stock Series for a second time in the 2012 season on Sunday evening, August 26, in the Hudson Hugger 100.
Current Granite State Pro Stock Series point leader Bobby Cabral leads the series into the back-to-back weekend events with a slim eight point lead over Walpole, NH veteran Mike Parks. Cabral, of East Kingston, NH, is a long time competitor at Star Speedway and claimed the Gate City Classic 100 win earlier in the season at Hudson Speedway. Parks finished second in the Gate City Classic 100.
Fifteen-year-old Derek Griffith sits third in the series standings and will look to claim his first series triumph at the two tracks close to home. Griffith, of Hudson, NH, finished an impressive second place in the series opening event at Monadnock Speedway, then claimed a ninth place finish in the Gate City Classic 100.
Carl Eriksson, of Deep River, CT, and Rich Eaton, of Seabrook, NH, sit fourth and fifth in the Granite State Pro Stock Series standings and will look to jump into the title fight in the duo of races. Bobby Baillargeon, of Kingston, NH, Fran Colson, of Gardner, MA, Barry Gray, of Belchertown, MA, and Geoff Rollins, of Groton, MA, are also expected to attend the series back-to-back performances. Baillargeon finished third in the Gate City Classic 100.
NASCAR Nationwide Series competitor Matt Frahm, of New Salem, NH, will be among the entrants at both Star Speedway and Hudson Speedway. Multi-time Star Speedway champion Babe Branscombe, of Nottingham, NH, will also take part
Star Speedway is located on Route 27 in Epping, NH, just 30 minutes east of New Hampshire’s largest city, Manchester. There will be an on-track meet and greet with the stars and cars of the Granite State Pro Stock Series just before their 100-lap event. Post time is scheduled for 6:00pm on Saturday, August 18. The Granite State Pro Stock Series will be joined by the Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour, Outlaws, Strictly Stocks, Roadrunners, and Star 4 Modifieds.
Hudson Speedway is located just off of Route 102 on Old Derry Road in Hudson, NH, and is conveniently located within a half hour of New Hampshire’s five largest cities. Post time is scheduled for 6:00pm on Sunday, August 26. Also on the card is the Road Runners, Thunder Lights, and the “Mighty Mike” Lewis Memorial for the Rookie Stock racers.
