Granite State Pro Stock Series Championship Showdown Set for Monadnock
Cabral Leads Baillargeon by 14 points entering season finale
WINCHESTER, NH — Granite State Pro Stock Series point leader Bobby Cabral will take a 14-point lead into the season finale JBH 100 on Saturday, September 29 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.
Cabral, of East Kingston, NH, has had an impressive season thus far, as he had picked up top-five finishes in every event until the series last race at Canaan Fair Speedway. The veteran racer won the Gate City Classic 100 at Hudson Speedway in July and has been steady in the inaugural season of the Granite State Pro Stock Series. His worst finish on the season is a seventh place finish.
Bobby Baillargeon sits second in the Granite State Pro Stock Series standings. The Kingston, NH racer season has surged after his win in the Hudson Hugger 100 at Hudson Speedway in August. He finished third at Canaan one week ago and cut eight points off of Cabral’s lead.
Cabral was able to finish third in May at Monadnock, while Baillargeon was relegated to a 14th place finish after an incident. Cabral can be crowned the 2012 Granite State Pro Stock Series champion by finishing ahead of Baillargeon at the conclusion of the JBH 100, or by finishing within six positions of him if Baillargeon does not win the event. Baillargeon can be crowned Granite State Pro Stock Series champion if he wins and Cabral does not finish better than seventh, or if he finishes seven positions ahead of Cabral on the track.
Rich Eaton of Seabrook, NH, multi-time Monadnock Speedway champion Barry Gray of Belchertown, MA, and Mike Parks of Walpole, NH all have a mathematical chance at claiming the Granite State Pro Stock Series championship. Eaton currently sits 28-points back from Cabral with Gray nipping at Eaton’s heels just two points shy of Eaton. Parks sits 44-points back of Cabral.
The Granite State Pro Stock Series season finale will be held on Super Saturday, September 29 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH. The JBH 100, which was originally scheduled for August 4th, will be in memory of late Granite State Pro Stock Series co-founder John Hoyt, who unexpectedly passed away last year.
Super Saturday’s pit gates open at 10:00am, with practice beginning at noon. Monadnock Speedway’s main ticket booth opens at 1:00pm, with school bus rides for kids beginning at 2:30pm. Heat race qualifying will begin at 3:00pm. Admission is $20 for Adults, $10 for Seniors, $5 for Students (13-18), and Children 12 and under are free.
