Speedway to once again host races in July, September next season

LOUDON, N.H. (Sept. 21, 2012) – New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials announced this morning that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will return for two races in 2013, with the first race scheduled for July 14 and the second for Sept. 22.

The SYLVANIA 300, the second race in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, is still two days away, but “The Magic Mile” is already looking forward to next year.

“We are full steam ahead for our race this Sunday, but we’re also tremendously honored to have the opportunity to do this all over again next year,” said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. “This has been an extremely exciting season and we are privileged to be an integral part in determining NASCAR’s champion. It’s going to be a long winter, but I think I can speak for everyone here at ‘The Magic Mile’ when I say we can’t wait for the 2013 season to begin.”

NASCAR’s premier stock car division has been racing twice a year at NHMS since 1997. It has hosted a race in the Chase since the playoff’s inception in 2004.

NHMS has certainly proven to be an unpredictable track, as Kasey Kahne won the July race, becoming the ninth different winner in the last nine races to find Victory Lane at the 1.058-mile oval.

“The main reason why we have both races again next year is because of the enthusiastic support of our race fans in New England,” said Gappens. “The drivers know this is a great place to compete and the fans know it’s an amazing place to watch a race.”
