Lack of snow forces site change for Round 5 at East Coast Snocross,
Presented by AMSOIL and Woody’s Traction
Event moved from Belmont, NH, to Lake George, NY

CHESHIRE, Conn. (Feb. 5, 2013) – Despite predictions of a cold and snowy winter for the northeast in 2012-2013, a lack of snow in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire has forced a change in venue for this coming weekend’s East Coast Snocross (ECS) competition.

The fifth round of championship point racing was originally planned for the Lakes Region Casino in Belmont, NH, yet an unusual lack of snow in that area has forced officials to move the event. In a kind gesture with incredible timing, the folks who organize the Lake George (NY) Winter Carnival called to inquire if the series would be available for a return visit to their town.

While this move comes in the 11th hour and means more travel for some teams, it also means a race can take place where a track already exists. Snowmaking equipment is already in place at Lake George to supplement what was there so a larger, redesigned track can be constructed.

“The weather just hasn’t been cooperating in much of northern New England,” said ECS president Bob Roscoe. “As much as we were looking forward to our race in New Hampshire, it just wasn’t meant to be. We are very fortunate that the folks in Lake George liked what they saw when we raced there two weeks ago and have asked us to return. I’m confident this will be another great weekend of snocross, and we truly appreciate the opportunity to race.”

Spectator gates open at 10:30 a.m. each day, with amateur qualifying rounds already in progress. Pro racing begins at 12:30 p.m. both days with Pro finals set for 3 p.m. Admission is $12 per day for adults, $5 for children ages 8-12, age 7 and under admitted free with a paying adult. Pit passes valid through the weekend will be available for an extra $10.

Each day will feature qualifying rounds and finals for riders in five major divisions; Pro, Pro Lite, Sport, Junior and Women. There is also a Trail class (700cc max.) for those looking to give snocross a try in an affordable manner.

The Lake George Winter Carnival offers a variety of fun activities every Saturday and Sunday during the month of February. The event features the popular outhouse races, attended by thousands every year. Along with a big parade and Chili cook-off, visitors can enjoy a bon-fire on the beach and the warmth of Lake George village in a winter setting. East Coast Snocross, presented by AMSOIL and Woody’s Traction, is the eastern affiliate of International Series of Champions (ISOC), the national sanctioning body for snocross. ECS strives to maintain a regional circuit intended to keep grass-roots snocross racing healthy in this part of the Snowbelt while also cultivating new talent for tomorrow’s factory-backed Pro teams.
