WEST HAVEN, VT – Interstate All Battery Center has recharged its commitment to Devil’s Bowl Speedway for the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season. The longtime Rutland, VT business has supported local stock car racing teams for nearly 30 years and last year increased its involvement with Devil’s Bowl Speedway itself.
Interstate All Battery Center of Rutland will present a full card of racing for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series on Friday, August 9, hosting the Bond Auto Parts Modifieds, Late Models, Renegades, and Mini Stocks. Race fans can get in on the action as well as the wildly popular and highly unpredictable Spectator Races return. Spectator Races are one-on-one, single-lap, elimination races run with street-legal vehicles. Recent winning rides include a 2008 Ford Mustang, a 1982 Pontiac Grand Prix, and a 2006 Audi A3.
Craig Bushey and Robert Gordon won on Interstate All Battery Center Night in 2012 en route to taking the Late Model and Renegade championships, respectively. Modified title rivals Vince Quenneville, Jr., and Ron Proctor finished a close 1-2 at last year’s event, and Bobby LaVair led a Mini Stock family sweep of the podium with his father, Harold, in second place, and brother, Chris, in third.
As exciting as the racing action was in 2012, the most popular part of Interstate All Battery Center’s support of Devil’s Bowl Speedway has been the “Fun Bus” pit area and race track tour. The Interstate Batteries Fun Bus was a smash hit with race fans young and old at every event, giving riders an up-close look at racers and pit crews preparing their cars for competition. Several drivers even took a ride on the Fun Bus to hand out souvenirs and meet with fans.
