Holcomb tops USAC Dirt Midgets, Mastic wins First in Coupes
BRADFORD, VT – Veteran stock car driver Chris Donnelly of Piermont, NH Rim Rode to victory on Valley Floors night at Bear Ridge Speedway. Donnelly used the extreme outside lane to blast his way to the front from his 14th starting position, taking the lead on lap 24 from Evan Kingsbury in the 40 lap event for the Bond Auto DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds. Evan Kingsbury of Bradford finished second with former Champion Gary Seimons rounding out the top three. Donnelly also won the Blackmount Equipment Semi-Feature.
Martin Mastic of Bradford, VT took his first career win in the 30-lap Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupe feature. Mastic took the lead with an inside move on Jeff Robbins Jr and held off all challengers for the win. Josh Constantine finished second with Jeremy Beckley taking advantage of a lapped car to claim third at the line.
Scott Holcomb of North Granby, CT posted a convincing win in the non-stop USAC Dirt Midget feature, topping “Flatfoot” Joe Kraweic .by 3.65 seconds. Adam Pierson completed the top three in his initial foray into the division, piloting the Skip Matczak #3 usually chauffeured by Denny Zimmerman
Lebanon, NH resident Jason Giguere took advantage of the last restart, taking the lead and rolling to his second victory in the Limited Late Models. Brian Chaffee rebounded from a disastrous opening night to finish second with early leader Matt Ellsworth coasting across the line in third after breaking a driveline component on the last lap.
Tim Martin of White River Jct, Vt drove past Kevin Harran as the white flag flew to win the 20-lap Weglarz Property Service Fast Four feature. Harran was second, with Steve Bell Third.
Stan Otterman of West Topsham, VT showed that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the KDD Napa Ridge Runner Hornets as he took the lead from early leader Brent Warren and ran to victory. Warren claimed second with opening night winner Eric Post third, Joe Kemp was fourth with Chris Armstrong completing the top 5.
Bear Ridge Speedway’s season of stock car racing continues with the Dads 4 By Tool and Supply sponsored Bear Ridge Speedway Remembrance of lost friends Tuck Memorial 111 on May 25th. The Winged Warriors of the Sprint Cars of New England will be on hand plus a full card of the 99ROCK Weekly Racing Series Modifieds, Coupes, Late Models, Fast Fours, and Hornets. Special general admission is $13 for adults (age 18-61), $10 for teens (12-17) and seniors (62+), and $2 for children; Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Racing begins at the famous “6:00-ish” start time.
Bear Ridge Speedway is located on Kidder Road in Bradford, VT, just off Exit 16 on Interstate 91.
