The Legion Speedway in Wentworth NH welcomed the Sprint Cars of New England, or SCoNE, to the quarter-mile dirt oval on Mother’s Day. They were joined by the Speedway’s four regular divisions. The title sponsor for the evening was Sabrena’s Creative Styles of Northfield, NH.

Chris Donnelly in #17 won an exciting Sprint car main event, chased to the end by Dan “The Man” Douville’s #7 and the #8 of Kevin Chaffee. A late race caution gave Douville a chance to take the win, but he was not able to capitalize.

The Sportsmen Modified feature ran its entire 25 laps without a caution. The #4 of DJ Robinson came from midfield at the start to get the win. Chris Donnelly came close to sweeping the two divisions he was entered in, but he and his Modified #20 had to settle for second, followed by the #96 of “Racin'” Jason Sanville.

The Super Street main event saw many lead changes, with Jack Whynot in #27 getting the victory. The #6 of Doug McPhail finished second. James Travis in #17 pulled off a daring last-corner pass of the #30 of Sam Comeau, but then failed the post-race tech inspection and was disqualified. This gave third to Comeau.

Chris Conroy in #78 won a hard-fought feature in the Bond Auto Parts Outlaw Mini-Stock class, followed by Tim Martin’s # 83 and the #4 of Rob Gioia. Martin took the Bond Auto Parts Hard Charger award, advancing the most spots between the green and checkered flag and earning a $100 Bond Auto Parts gift card.

Luke Greenwood in #89 took his second consecutive 600cc Mini-Sprint feature. Second place was also a repeat for Rich Crooker’s #21. Third went to Jamie Glidden’s #4.

The Legion Speedway is located on rt. 25 on the Wentworth/Rumney line. Races are Sunday afternoon starting at 5 pm, with gates opening at 2 pm, from May through September.
