The ACT competitor who qualifies in the top position for the first of three 100-lap segments for the Late Models will earn the $1,000 bonus. The marquee summer event already boasts a purse of over $140,000, with a guaranteed $25,000 going to the winner.

The extra grand in qualifying turns up the heat on a race already enticing drivers from both sides of the border.

“The International 500 is high up on my list, and we’ve got great expectations going there,” said reigning ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. “The race will be tough from qualifying to checkers, but I can’t wait to get this thing on the road. It will be one of the biggest races we’ve ever been a part of,” he finished.

Top ten Série ACT racer Patrick Cliche is thrilled about the bonus opportunity.

“Our ultimate goal at the 500 is to win, but even qualifying and keeping your car in one piece can be hard in a race like this with so much competition. This is just an extra incentive,” said Cliche, who feels Airborne is one of his favorite tracks. “Many teams have the potential to win, but we truly believe in our chances to beat the best,” he finished.

The American Canadian Tour Late Models will be joined by Airborne’s Dirt Modifieds, Renegades, and Bombers for a full card of racing all weekend long.

The Inaugural International 500 weekend is set for July 20/21 at Plattsburgh, NY’s Airborne Speedway.
