Rookie Sensation Fornwalt Claims 2nd Modified win; Cadwell Wins 2nd in Coupes

BRADFORD, VT –Before the start of the night only three weeks remained in the 2013 weekly racing season, and from the action on the track for Shaker Valley Auto night it is clear to see that the points are tight and it is all or nothing as the season winds down.

The Bond Auto DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Feature presented a show for the fans with everyone full throttle at the drop of the green and ten minutes one second later 23 machines crossed the line after fourty laps for the checkers. With this much heat all around you one slip up sends you quickly backwards so being alert and ready is critical to make it to the front. Rookie sensation Jordan Fornwalt was alert enough to make his way to the front from mid pack and take the lead from pole sitter Tim Tucker late in the race. Tucker was able to hold on to the second place finish and third was claimed by Mike Gendron who advanced to the spot from his eleventh starting position. The points battle is poised to be a doozie with the top swapping the “King of the Ridge” spot from week to week. Keven Chaffee, teammate of Fornwalt was on top going into the night, but he was unable to advance to the front as well as his contender Chris Donnelly who made if from 19th to fourth before the checkers waved, putting him back on top for the moment. Coming home in fifth was Dan Eastman.

The Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes saw their second repeat winner of the season when Louie Cadwell came from deep in the pack taking advantage of a couple of cautions to regroup the field and found himself on top at the end of thirty laps. Josh Constantine had his best finish of the year coming home in second and joining them in victory lane by .001 hundreds of a second over Martin Mastic was Teddy Salomaa. Billy Simmons crossed the line in fifth.

The Laquerre’s Sports Limited Late Models feature was caution laden and at the end the win went to Brandon Gray with your points leader Jason Giguere coming home in second and Brian Chaffee in third. Rounding out the top five were Matt Ellsworth and Travis King.

Weglarz Property Service Fast Four point leader Tim Martin took the win again with Kevin Harran in second and Robert Gioia in third.

In the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets feature Bobby Bell makes it two for two claiming the win over points leader Stan Otterman. Joining them in victory lane was Mike Ryan in third. Eric Post and rookie Michael Phelps completed the top five.

Lacey Hanson made history at the Ridge in the Continental Machine Granite State Mini Sprints 500 cc’s winning a triple crown for the night.
