Thompson Speedway is accepting applications for car number renewals for the 2014 racing season. Competitors are encouraged to preserve their car number by completing the registration form and getting to the Thompson Speedway track office prior to the renewal date of January 15, 2014.
Thompson Speedway is proud to announce that, once again, there is no charge affiliated with car number renewals. Every year the track provides this service to its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competitors so that they can begin to prepare their race cars and without the concern of having to make costly, last minute changes to the car’s number.
Waterbury native Joey Cipriano, III, found success and gained confidence in earning the 2013 SPAFCO SK Modified® Rookie of the Year title. The accomplishment did not come easy for Cipriano as he began the year behind the wheel of the Steve Greer #19 car but a mutual decision found them parting ways after the first four races of the season. After a 5-race absence, Cipriano returned to the SK Modified® ranks in his family owned #84 AVI Pumps machine in competitive style and he nearly won his first feature.
Since joining the DARE Stock division in 2010 at Stafford Motor Speedway, hometown driver Cory Casagrande has proven to be a quick study behind the wheel. He won three races as a DARE Stock rookie in 2010, and then he won 8 times total in his next two seasons of Limited Late Model competition, including the championship last year. Casagrande continued his mastery of the learning curve this season as he piloted his #1 Shark Cycle / Casagrande Builders Ford to his first Late Model victory as well as earning SPAFCO Rookie of the Year honors.
