Thompson, CT –17 year-old racer Derek Griffith is hoping to make his Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park debut a memorable one.
The Hudson, NH native arrived at the historic 5/8th mile oval with a new car and renewed aspirations to starting off the 2014 season in the same fashion, as the youngster started off the 2012 season. At that time, the 15 year-old Griffith streaked out an impressive second place finish in the season opening race, held at Mondanock Speedway and continued on for a season ending top-10 points standing.
Derek remarked, “It would be fantastic to get this car dialed in and come away with a top-3 finish here at Thompson. We love the bigger tracks and I think it suits our style the best.”
Griffith missed a good portion of the 2013 season due to unforeseen car issues but the young team were able to bounce back and grab a second-place finish at Hudson International Speedway and a season ending third-place finish at Groveton, New Hampshire’s, Riverside Speedway.
The No. 12 LCM Racing/Tyngsboro Motors Toyota Camry can be seen in action on April 5th and 6th as the team competes in the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Ice Breaker event.
