2,400 cars, bikes and trucks came last year The 2014 goal is 3,000LAKEVILLE, Conn. (April 9) – Lime Rock Park is again encouraging everyone within “listening” distance to show support for “Spike’s Ride for Sandy Hook,” the huge car-truck-and-bike show, as the second annual fundraising gathering is set for Saturday, May 3 at Connecticut’s Northwest Corner motorsports facility. Proceeds benefit the Newtown Police Union and the Rotary Club Sandy Hook Fund.

Last year, George “Spikes” LeGrice and friends made it happen at Lime Rock Park: The car show to benefit Sandy Hook families and first responders was a big success. At the “Spike’s Ride for Sandy Hook,” organizers confirmed more than 2,400 vehicles – cars, motorcycles and trucks – made their way to Lakeville, collecting $26,000 in cash donations.

LeGrice, 28, an EMT and National Guardsman from Brockton, Mass., is again organizing the 2014 “Ride,” with Lime Rock donating the facility and personnel.

“Like last year, we’ve got multiple states sending convoys to Lime Rock,” LeGrice says. “If you’re not part of a convoy, that’s okay! Just bring your cool car, truck or motorcycle and help us help the Newtown Police Union and the Rotary Club Sandy Hook Fund.”

Lime Rock Park’s gate opens at 7:00 a.m., Sat., May 3 for vendors and entrants for the 2014 “Spike’s Ride for Sandy Hook.” Spectator gates open at 10:00 a.m. for this all-day show, which includes a drifting exhibition on the Infield Autocross Course and a motorcycle stunt show, plus local vendors, music and an impressively varied collection of incredible vehicles.

The donation is $15 for cars, trucks and motorcycles, $20 for lifted trucks and other big vehicles. Show-watchers are encouraged to donate at the Spike’s Ride Booth on the property.

Skip Barber said, “Last year’s event was one of the most ‘democratic’ shows I’ve ever seen. We had Bentleys from the 1930s shoulder to shoulder with Honda Accords, which, by the way, were right next to jacked-up diesel pick-ups, Z28s and Austin-Healeys. Thousands of vehicles… It’s wonderful when everyone feels as one, to do what they can for Newtown.”
