Broadening Horizons: Patrick Tanguay Looking to Tackle North East Street Stock Tour

NORTH STONINGTON, CT – Patrick Tanguay is the two-time and defending Hobby Stock Champion at Lee USA Speedway (NH). Now, he is looking to add the inaugural North East Street Stock Tour to his mantle.

“Honestly, we want to go out and have fun, and try something new,” said Tanguay. “Going to different tracks sounds very appealing, and challenging, and we want to win a race in the inaugural tour season.”

Tanguay has entered the full-season on the North East Street Stock Tour, which just announced a merger with Outside the Box Promotions, a start-up motorsports promotions company, and is excited about the combination.

Tanguay commented, “I see it as a total positive, since Scott Fanning and his staff have put everything into this tour to make it succeed. With that drive and determination behind this tour, and then you add Josh Vanada and his staff. With their passion for the sport and professionalism, how can this not be a positive thing? It’s going to be a fun, ground-breaking season!”

The Lebanon, Maine resident’s lust for racing began by watching his father wheel a Hobby Stock around Lee USA Speedway from 1991 to 1999, when in 1996, Tanguay caught the racing itch, and climbed in the cockpit himself. A Ford Escort was Tanguay’s first ride in the Road Runner division, until a Ford Mustang became the car of choice, and the wins followed, including a Triple Crown Championship in 2007. Also in 2007, Tanguay tested the waters of the Hobby Stock division, the division in which his father got his feet wet, and picked up Rookie of the Year honors.

Now, Patrick’s wife Jen, and son, Tyler, will be cheering on the #79 Chevrolet Camaro as he travels to tracks such as Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, Monadnock Speedway, and Seekonk Speedway. When asked which he looked forward to most, the seasoned driver answered, “I am looking forward to finally racing at Speedway 51 (NH). I have family that lives up there, and have been going to that track since I was a kid. I have always wanted to try it. Also, the Thompson (Speedway Motorsports Park) road course; we are looking forward to racing on a road course!”

The North East Street Stock Tour open the inaugural season with an exhibition race at Lee USA Speedway, with the Tri-Track Open Modified Series, May 17. The first championship race takes place at Seekonk Speedway, May 30.
